Helpful hints for Greenville... parking, dining, etc....

If you are traveling to Greenville from out of town, I have some pointers/thoughts on how to handle the day.

1) Plan to get downtown as early as possible. Downtown Greenville is consistently rated very highly for small cities and there are a large number of things to do. This makes it pretty congested on a Saturday night. I would recommend parking away from the arena. Parking downtown in the one of the ramps a few blocks away from the arena will help you get out of the area quicker, or make it easy to grab a bite to eat and have a drink or two after the show. The number of restuarants and bars is too many to list. From very expensive steakhouses to Tapas.

2) Avoid any GPS instructions that include taking Woodruff Road. It is congested horribly on the weekends. If you come from the southeast on Woody, you will meet stop and go traffic for about 3 miles.

3) If you park downtown, away from the 2 ramps near the arena, there is a footbridge that you can get to from Church street. It crosses over Beattie Place and brings you right to the arena. I am guessing the Ten Club tickets will be at the front of the building, this will be pretty accessible from the footbridge.

4)There is so much to do within a half hour or so of Greenville that filing the day is pretty easy. If you like to hike, or walk trails or sit in a coffee shop, you can PM me for specific things to do. There is even a BMW museum pretty close, for car buffs.

Have a great time and welcome to Greenville :)

Already have reservations at Hall's Chophouse at 6PM. I will also be hitting the local record store Sat morning for RSD. I think it's called Horizon. Any good?

Would love a dining recommendation...nothing overly pricey but good food - we are wide open so any cuisine suggestions are welcome. The wife and I are leaving the kids with grandparents and making a night of it! Thanks!

What's a mircoRV? Like a pop up, or just a little trailer?

Thank you, OP. I was late on the hotel, so I'm staying Quality Inn (10 Mills Ave, Greenville, SC 29605). Not quite in the heart of downtown but close. I'm assuming that's a safe/OK walk to downtown to get to bars? Then from downtown to the arena?

How is the walk from the Westin to the venue? Is it walkable? Is it safe at night, before and after the show? I read there is Uber service for those who have asked.

Lived in Greenville for four years right out of college. You cannot go wrong with Henry's BBQ. Their mustard based vinegar sauce is epic. I would debate this being a walk to the arena though. While it could be done it is not very pedestrian friendly and there is not much to stop at on the way.

Though I am not a huge vinyl fan, Horizon has a great restaurant called The Bohemian attached to it. Highly recommend if time is available.

No opener. They usually start between 8-830 and play until 11 or so.

Sticky Fingers is a chain but is downtown for BBQ along with Smoke on the Water... As for reasonably priced food, Twin Peaks is on Woodruff road near the end of the congestion but the wife may not like watching waitresses with very little on.

Finding tailgating friendly parking may be a challenge.

Staying at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Greenville Haywood, assuming Taxi's are fairly easy to catch? Going to hit the pre party for awhile but will probably try and find another place to eat. Hopefully have a little time to walk around the city. Probably won't get to downtown until around 3:30.

This walk is very safe an enjoyable. Only problem is you might get caught walking into too many bars as the walk down Main Street is nothing but retail, restaurants and nightlife.

I know you said to PM but I'm looking for things to do during the day if we get there early enough. Probably not hiking, trials, etc. Any general ideas ?
