  • Here is 1 to think about (if already discussed sorry and just another example of how hard to pull this together) - since counting TV shows - 11/14/02 and 11/15/02 were Letterman shows and all these resources treat them as different shows - however they were both recorded on 11/14/02 - not sure how you can count 11/15/02.
Might be others like this - maybe I'll get around to this project soon.

    SHOW COUNT: (170) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=114, US=124, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5
    Mexico=1, Colombia=1

    Carry on!....:)

Yes, this band has shown no indication for arching, revisiting the past or having events celebrating milestones.

    SHOW COUNT: (170) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=114, US=124, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5

I've only skimmed the rest of the thread (and we're all nuts) but without any other input from anyone official, I'd say we use the past tour setlists listed on this website.

Which puts Mexico City '15 at 965. Wrigley Night 2 in August '16 would be 988.

If PJ/10c lists the show as a setlist, it counts. If not, it doesn't. I mean, if they were going to do something (and that's equally possible and not possible) they'd use their count and ignore we crazies and our "This, but not that"s!

You're right about being Nuts, and I agree with your numbers I've been thinking about this for a few days. I just counted every show on this official site. Including the one night on the Ride show just added, Wrigley 2 will be show 989 based on Pearljam.coms own info. Where is the OP getting their numbers saying Quebec will be 1000? This is the official site, where do the other 20 shows come from?

    *snip*

Do the math. Wrigley 2 would be show 989. So again, how does the OP say Quebec 2016 will be show 1,000? I have Quebec at 980 and show 1000 TBD. I'm not saying OP is wrong but my numbers are direct from the official Pearl Jam site that we're all using.
That number is using the list at setlist.fm. Which includes TV performances, and thus why even when I initially posted about it I was skeptical.

Believe you me, no one wants QC to be PJ1000 more than me. ;) But if it's not, it's not. C'est la vie.

Okay so I did some additional research and noticed the 1,136 show count includes the 137 EV solo shows + 22 dates on the upcoming tour (they don't list the 05/11 Toronto show or the Ride festival for some reason). So that puts the count at 977 shows and if you add the 24 dates to that count Wrigley Field #1 would end up being their 1,000th show. This seems more plausible to me than Quebec City (no offense to Canadians).

For anyone that's interested in researching this themselves just go to PJdb.net and click on "Find setlist" and go to the bottom of that page and click on "search shows" without applying any filters and all the shows will come up. The solo shows will appear next to the show date.

    RM

But you haven't cross referenced the other sites. When you do you will see that performances are missing from this list.

If it's using setlist.fm then I know I am right as it is missing performances. I have checked this already. Read through the thread. Total number of performances as Pearl Jam stands at 985.

    It is hilarious.

I just don't think anyone knows for sure what number of shows they've played.

True. However, the same could be said for almost all of the topics of threads on this board

It's all so subjective as what show's do you include/not include in the count, tv appearances, special invite shows (i.e. Target) etc? It seems different sources have different opinions, for example I noticed the PJ Stat Tracker app sometimes puts 2 sets performed on the same day as 2 separate shows.
    My PJ shows:
    London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....

Personally I agree with others in this thread that only concerts should be counted. I feel including TV or special appearances is inflating the statistics unnaturally.

Then this thread should be called "1000th Concert" not performance. To me performance would include things like SNL and talk shows where 1-2 songs are played.
So 1000 performances is different from 1000 concerts.

Not everybody agrees. If you read the whole thread you will see that this has been discussed. Concerts can't be counted based on people's differing definitions but performances can. 1000th performance is Quebec City. Feel free to figure out for yourself what the 1000th concert is.

What if we defined concerts as any performance where tickets were made available to the general public through a nationally recognized ticketing outlet (or equivalent during the TM boycott) or any bar/club shows during their "infancy"?

Do we have a handle on that number?
