Pearl Jam's 1000th Performance?

This input is valid...the only thing I do know is that the "official" list is missing shows. A couple of points...1) I cross referenced the lists from five sites (PJ official, PJ Stat Tracker, Livefootsteps, two feet thick, setlists.fm) and removed all duplicate shows. 2) The thread was changed to Total Number of Performances...this was done because there is a big disagreement on what constitutes a "show". For example some people think MTV unplugged shouldn't count while others, myself included, think it is absolutely a show. Since the definition of a "show" can not possibly be settled I'm going with "performances" of which there have been 985. 3) Chicago minus Stone...I think it has to count based on band intent.Foriginal Sin said:
Go back to the first post. I read the whole thread. Few people are agreeing with each other and a few aren't. You obviously haven't read the edits the OP keeps putting in (currently they conclude that Quebec is show 1,000). I know you agree with me that a song on Letterman is not a show. Heres an example of a discrepancy: In 2002 'other' sites include 2 shows at the Ed Sullivan Theatre on 2 "separate" nights for Letterman but both songs were recorded the same day within an hour of each other, so why listed as 2 separate shows on different dates? If that's the case then the MTV Unplugged show didn't happen on 3/16/92, it happened whenever MTV premiered it, makes no sense. Oh and speaking of PJ only shows what about Chicago in 02, Stone wasn't present so should that show be taken off every list? My questions obviously weren't answered. I'm going with the official list, 965 shows and counting.Dercheef said:Instead of listing the number of shows for each year you could have read the thread. All you questions already have been answered. The count on the site is definately wrong, we all agree on that.
People can disagree with this if they like but rest assured come April I will be starting a countdown to performance number 1000 in Quebec City.Post edited by BS44325 on0 -
I saw Amos Lee on David Letterman. Does that mean I can't count that "show" as one of the times I saw him live? My Amos Lee stat tracker just went from 4 to 3. It's very confusing.Dercheef said:I'm sorry but counting TV apperances as "Pearl Jam shows" is ridiculous. Playing one or two songs in a tv studio is not a show imo.

I think you should count it. Someone once asked me "Hey BS? You ever see Nelly and the St Lunatics live?". To which I responded..."Why yes...I saw them play Hot in Herre live on Letterman".dlymnfld said:

No one said it's not a performance. But this thread was labeled "Pearl Jams 1000th show" at first and yes, a single song "performed" in a tv studio is not a "Pearl Jam show" in my book.dlymnfld said:2006:Arnhem,Bern,Berlin

Every single one of us has our own personal count of how many times we have seen Pearl Jam. Personally I have not been fortunate enough to see PJ at letterman/snl etc. but if I had I am pretty sure I would include it in the number of times I have seen the band play. So...my question to those who have been to one of those tapings...Do you include that in your personal hard count? My guess is that many of you do.0 -
Nevermind the methodology -Sounds like a project for someone especially early shows - PJ stat tracker and Pearljam.com don't include 12-19-90. However, it is on TFT site and in the PJ20 book as a show that happened. I'm sure there a few others like this.
Setlist..fm also has the show but also includes some EV solo appearance(s) as PJ shows.SHOW COUNT: (170) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=114, US=124, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5

It looks very strange to see drum sets be used with rap.Presidential Advice from President-Elect Mike McCready: "Are you getting something out of this all encompassing trip?"0 -
you can't use Pearl Jam.com for an official count, they are missing shows (Beacon, some others). I think there was a good thread from around the fans are alright release, because that count was way off."If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: The only proof he needed for the existence of God was music." Honestly I think everyone is incorrect here. I use PJdb.net exclusively for all my Pearl Jam show stat tracking as they seem to be the only site that has all of the shows/performances by the band, even the "off the radar" shows like 2012's Treasure Island show for Oracle World!
So if I'm using their numbers (minus the 137 EV solo shows they have listed) the band is actually sitting on their 999th show/performance at this very moment which means Ft. Lauderdale, FL, not Quebec City will be their 1,000th! So hurry up folks as there are still tickets left for what surely will be the show to be at on this tour, TEN will be played in its entirety!
Personally, I'm happy with going to their 1,002 show.

I like your thinking. You just moved the 1000th show to one of the ones I am attending. I'm calling this the truth!!Red Mosqito said:Honestly I think everyone is incorrect here. 12-19-90 - they don't have it. How do you see 137 EV shows that include old shows?Red Mosqito said:Honestly I think everyone is incorrect here. The mistake is relying on any site "exclusively" as I have found errors on all of them. Some double counts, some overcounts, some missed shows. You need to cross-reference all of them for the most complete picture.Red Mosqito said:Honestly I think everyone is incorrect here. ***Edit - After looking at PJdb.net there seem to be a few problems
1) It lists two numbers for total number of shows. On main page it says 1136 BUT when you click on "shows" link it says 1114
2) It lumps in all the EV shows (137 according to Red Mosquito) which makes searching site very difficult (not impossible).
3) If you use the 1136 number minus 137 EV shows you get 999 BUT if you use 1114 number - 137 you get 977 (which is much closer to my number of 985 performances)
My bet is if I take the time to go through this one and cross reference it with PJ/PJStatTracker/Livefootseps/TwoFeetThick it will get us right back to the 985 total performances.
Nothing here changes my mind that Quebec City is performance 1000Post edited by BS44325 on0 -
Okay so I did some additional research and noticed the 1,136 show count includes the 137 EV solo shows + 22 dates on the upcoming tour (they don't list the 05/11 Toronto show or the Ride festival for some reason). So that puts the count at 977 shows and if you add the 24 dates to that count Wrigley Field #1 would end up being their 1,000th show. This seems more plausible to me than Quebec City (no offense to Canadians).
For anyone that's interested in researching this themselves just go to PJdb.net and click on "Find setlist" and go to the bottom of that page and click on "search shows" without applying any filters and all the shows will come up. The solo shows will appear next to the show date.

I thinks it hilarious this thread has gone on for 6 pages. I don't think the band has any idea what show number they are on or gives a shit.
