I'm sorry but counting TV apperances as "Pearl Jam shows" is ridiculous. Playing one or two songs in a tv studio is not a show imo.

These tv appearances are in front of studio audiences. The size of the crowd shouldn't determine whether it's a gig.

Either way...I don't really know if it is for me or anyone to not include these as shows. Eliminating them could make the hard count even harder to come up with.
By that logic you could add every studio session they played with a couple of friends or family present as a show. Are the AOL sessions a show? Was the The Fixer videotaping at the showbox a show? For me a show is every headlining gig, every festival and every gig they opened for others a show.
Honestly I would have never thought that anybody would think that a tv show taping constitutes as a Pearl Jam show.

Ok....This is my last time...I swear! (Don't know if anyone even cares). I just cross referenced all shows between Livefootsteps/StatTracker/Two Feet Thick to come to a definitive number.

Austin City Limits? The Late Show gigs? Those are clearly shows.

Some people on here are clearly missing the point. Show 1000 is coming on this tour. Maybe it matters maybe it doesn't. If you don't want to include Letterman/SNL/Conan/Fallon etc then be my guest and come up with the hard number of shows they have played. From my math Quebec City is 1000

a letterman or SNL taping is not a show... when they played the Ed Sullivan theater in 2006 after a late show taping, that was a show... storytellers is a show... acl is a show... conan is not a show

I think the people who got into those tapings would consider them to be shows. That being said if you don't like the use of the word "show" we can change it to "performance". Pearl Jam's 1000th Performance will be Quebec City.

I don't think the stat trackers include any private shows. There's been a few. Target, Microsoft in recent years.

Yeah. This is true. Is there an official list of those anywhere?

The #'s on the artwork for the Vault series are the show # the band considers to be a show. The Vic is show # 632 and it's from Aug 2, 2007. How hard is it to figure out of they're counting tv tapings? And then count all the shows after that date? :)
  • Vic was not show 632. Those are just numbers on road cases. Facts are good for you. Making crap up to fit a theory is not. They haven't played 300 shows since 2007, either.

I get what you're saying but I might've had more fun at Colbert than anything else

If PJ played a set of songs after a Letterman taping I would consider that a show. If they played a single song for a TV taping.... I don't feel that's show. I'll count small sets for charities and what not. But a single song for a tv taping? I think it has to be a set of some kind to be a show. Even if it's a short set. Single song TV taping though... nah :)

I think it's all moot anyways. The records of their time before they were famous probably aren't 100% reliable so you'd never really know which show was #1000.

I wouldn't consider tv tapings as shows to count towards the total either. I would consider only full shows. but either way, I won't be at show 1000 unless it's in Winnipeg!

TV show appearances aren't Pearl Jam concerts, no matter how you try to twist it semantically. You wouldn't say you saw a Brad Pitt movie if you saw him on The Late Show.
