Personally i think its a no brainer MMJ at either Red Rocks or Louisville.
But id like to hear anybody thoughts on this.

The MMJ shows in Louisville and Red Rocks are after PJ wraps up their tour!!
I was bummed that I had to miss the Red Rocks shows because it's the same weekend as the 100th running of The Indianapolis 500,
but MMJ now have a show in Indy the Thursday before the race!!!

I tried really hard to get into mmj a few years ago and just couldn't do it. Last year, I decided to try again to get into them as I continued to hear about their live show and they had an upcoming date in Portland at my favorite venue. I got into them enough to attend the show and was completely blown away by the fan base. It was the best concert crowd I have been to in a long long time. Everyone was up the whole time absolutely rocking out. The show was good for me, but the fans brought the atmosphere to the next level. I've since continued to enjoy them and am listening to them as I type this message, which I only typed because it was so ironic to log into the porch and see the top thread being about mmj, I couldn't resist. Anyway, great band, but I would have a hard time turning down PJ at MSG for anything.Gorge0

I even had trouble getting into their music just from listening to the studio albums,
so much so that I won't give someone interested in checking them out for the first time,
one of their albums to start on!!
I'll give them an official bootleg or a copy of OKONOKOS to start with!!
YOU really have to experience a My Morning Jacket show in person to truly get them.
Their music is just INCREDIBLE...
and the band really does take it to another level when they play live!!

MMJ is arguably the best live band on the planet at the current moment (although Phish might have something to say about that still) but Pearl Jam is still my favorite band and are a world class act live, obviously. I have already caved in and my whole summer is going to be just hitting a bunch of shows for both.... the good thing is that none of the dates directly interfere with the other as of right now.
It's looking like it will end up being Red Rocks for MMJ and then both Philly, both NYC for Pearl Jam and possibly Fenway. Although, this Roo lineup just blew me out of my seat especially with Tame Impala in the late night set. I've never had the urge to go, but there's an outside chance this could be the year.
Bottom line.... nut up and go to both. This will be an insane summer.'08- Camden 1-2 '09- Chicago 2; Spectrum 1-4

Wow! I'm thinking maybe Jacksonville, Greenville and/or Raleigh and then a night at Fenway. We are planning on moving to NC in may (sick of the cold/snow!) so I was thinking it might work out to go to the those and then have a side trip to Asheville to look at houses. I guess I'll be PorchgirlNC now! Would LOVE to do Jazzfest but too much $$$ to do that many shows with the move.derbydave said:

I saw MMJ at the Chicago Theater in 2008, probably the best show I've ever seen. No opener they played for a solid 2 1/2 hours. I've seen them twice since and they were amazing but that show in 08 was just mind blowing. But it's Pearl Jam for me this year.0
