New Idea: Pre-sell to ALL 10c members

Here's an idea: Why doesn't Pearl Jam pre-sell a ticket to every single one of their 10c members to ensure the diehards will be attending, then sell the rest to the general public. Or would this be unfair for the casual listener who just likes Betterman and Just Breathe?

Furthermore, with the majority of 10c members, there'd be less beer runs, talking during songs and general concert annoyances.

Where is the flaw?

The flaw lies in that not every diehard is a 10C member. As an example, I was a diehard PJ fan from the moment I "discovered" them in the summer of 1998 and wanted nothing more than to see them live. They played my hometown in October 2000, however I did not become a Fan Club member until the next spring. Did lil' ol' non-10C me deserve to not see that October show just because I didn't have the resources of money and regular Internet access in order to sign up for the Fan Club at the time?

any given band can only sell a certain percentage to their fanclubs. I believe it is 10% or so. PJ actually does better in this regard than most bands. If they wanted to have a fanclub only show, it would have to be a place where Ticketbastard didn't have the monopoly.

That and the ticket agencies control the venues. The restrict how many tickets fan clubs get. TM keeps widdling down how many that is, and other ticket agencies have similar policies.

Nothing you can do when other companies have monopolies on ticket sales for the venues.
  • and this band is way too big for a smaller venue now. too bad. I can't imagine what it would have been like seeing them at the Showbox back in 2003.
