    Exactly. You don't have to like the guy or his work to understand that he has a successful career. No way he'd jeopardize that on purpose for a Miss Universe pageant. I know conspiracy theories are fun, but to believe he'd tank his career for publicity for Miss Universe makes no sense.

    One of two things at play imo.

    Isnt the usual order is 2nd runner up gets announced then the winner correct? Leaving us with 1st runner up really not introduced.

    1. Teleprompter got him
    OR

    2. He did read it from the card and just plain fucked it up. Pic shown of the card has 2nd on top left , 1st right below that then centered on the card the winner

    I've seen both where they say the first runner up is and then you know who won the title. And also just announcing the winner

    I just saw something on some network nightly news show where they don't think it's going to hurt his career cuz it was an honest mistake and it generated a lot of buzz about the pageant.
    I literally had no idea he had his own show, much less in two different formats. I knew he hosted Family Feud but I was not aware that show was still going, thought it ended years ago. I only know him from that old sitcom, and the fact that he looks like a human Mr. Potato Head. I really don't think his career is over cuz of that mistake.

    when I used to watch those nonsense shows back when I was a teen, they always announced the first runner up, thus revealing the winner by omission. not sure if that's what they still do.

    I'm just going by what I've seen, Juggler.

    Would be interesting to see the comments attributed to him in context, as that article struck me as biased/pissed off.

    Still, in the end, I do think he just screwed up.
