Fair enough. I still thinks it's (a) shiiitty journalism or (b) not journalismHughFreakingDillon said:how is it stealing? all journalism has its sources. he occassionally uses this website. and he mentions where the rumour came from. it's not like he passes it off as his own. and he reports it as many times certain members here have been right a lot of the time. why wouldn't he?

I honestly think there should be more support for the kid.
I'm fairly certain he's only in his mid-20's, and he's grown his site from "grunge report" to "alternative nation" in only a few years. I remember several years ago, tweets would come in from his site around midnight, so I'm fairly certain he was holding down a real job and/or school, whilst simultaneously publishing several articles a day out of pure love and excitement for this type of music. Frankly, I'm shocked he found the time, and am supportive of him for that reason.
He definitely doesn't claim to be PBS news, and he prints the kind of rumours all of us get excited by. He and his colleagues must spend hours combing various boards, etc... trying to find exciting takes on an genre of music that frankly needs that type of excitement right now.1992-07-21 Vancouver

You're right... probably best to lean on the side of kindness.mwplum said:I honestly think there should be more support for the kid.

yes, he started the website on his own in his late teens. he has grown it since then and has several writers now, and has interviewed several high profile musicians (Mike McCready being one of them). and the portion that he gets from these boards in infinitesimal.Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer0

+1. It's a fan run news site. If you ever wanted to get Pearl Jam's opinion on something they hadn't officially annouced yet, you would get no response. I was a big fan of grungereport and still follow the website. There's not many other (any) websites that follow this genre of music.mwplum said:I honestly think there should be more support for the kid.

Brett, you're a beauty, keep writing and reporting. Alternative Nation is fucking great. Well done.on2legs said:That dude who writes that is a member here. As long as he sources where he got the info from I don't have a problem with him reporting things posted here.
