Oh, no! Don't be depressed. You are awesome. Don't let the age thing get to you.
I guess life just hasn't turned out as I'd have hoped. Hitting 30 is just a reminder of everything I've failed at and how little there is to celebrate. I'm not a big fan of birthdays and I hate how I envy others whose birthdays are confirmation of all the great things and people in their lives. That envy is fairly corrosive and is probably the aspect of my personality I'm most ashamed of

    I'm just a ray of sunshine amn't I? :p
30? You've barely started, Jenny! Life never turns out the way we hoped, and all those people who seem to be accomplished have their own areas of life that they aren't satisfied with (or are downright miserable about). You have some great accomplishments - wasn't it just a few months ago you were deciding between a promotion and a Fulbright Scholarship? You rock, Jenny. Your thirties might be your best decade.
Ah you're very kind :) Hopefully you're right, I know feeling sorry for myself certainly won't help anyway!

I attended an excellent concert tonight. It is a less well known band in the US. I wanted to buy a sticker. They had three t shirts, two Vinyl, and two tote bags on offer.

I've also realized there's no small music venue anywhere near around my way. Someone should come open one.

I was wicked depressed for my 40th....but I was super stoked for my 50th!
I know now WHY my 40th was hard and once I came to terms with things life got exciting and beautiful again.

BTW, yes it gets better :-)
Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

Such a great idea, i did a similar one last year for my grandfather! I took a standard monopoly board, and customized it with my family, so every grandkid got their own color with spaces for home/work/Fun activity, etc. Then a space for his post homes, and vacations. We play every couple months when I see him, no clear champion yet.

Good advice. Age shouldn't dictate how you live.

It's not the number, it's the fucking grey hairs I'm starting to get, lol! I do not like the physical aspect of aging. It SUUUUUCKS!!!! All the rest is great. But the fact that our bodies start to wear down while our minds don't (hopefully) is kind of a hard fact for me to accept. I'm not there yet, but from what I've gleaned from older people who are willing to share their honest thought about it, the incongruency between mind and body gets more and more pronounced until you get to the point where you look in the mirror and can barely even reconcile who you are in your head and that old lady in the mirror. I'm not going mental over it or anything, but I really can't stand that it happens to us. It's not fair, dammit, lol.
I definitely don't let my age or social expectations of behaviour based on age dictate my actions though. That never even occurred to me!

I've had gray hair since I was 23...
The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

My dad still isn't grey except around the temples and he's 75. That I'm already starting to see a few appear at almost 40 makes me feel genetically ripped off, haha. But yes, apologies, I know even so, I'm blessed in the grey hair department compared to many!

    19, man.

3-4 years ago I was asked by the haircut lady if i'd like to get my grays colored away - four hours later I was carded buying cigarettes. The world is a strange place.
