I like Putin. We stand around and argue about things and never get it done. At least he is trying something. Of course the same thing could have been said about W back in 2002.

What is he trying? The karate?
The U.S and its allies have been "trying" something in the middle east since "trying" in the middle east was invented. By "trying" do you mean dropping bombs with no signs of progress or means to an end?

Look at what wonderful wonderful credentials this man has to offer:
    -Ex KGB
-An imperialist who would love nothing more than a return to the old Soviet ways.
-A ruler with an autocratic style that excludes democratic process.
-Forces critics to leave the country or be jailed.
-Has become super rich through corruption.
-Admits to having been a bully as a kid.
-Has been accused of being a wife beater.
-Alexander Litvinenko killed after exposing apartment bombing plot that got Putin elected.

What is... well hell's bells, that's enough for me. Rock star indeed.

It's the GWB crowd who likes him. Kill and blow people up means you're a man who doesn't take any crap.

Nothing gets fixed and the problems get worse while killing innocent people.

Woot. They're what is wrong with the world.

We make policy changes in the middle east pretty much every 6 months. No troops, send troops. Back one alliance, nope now change to another. And most of those policies have failed in the past. Lets train rebels to overthrow the government we don't like. Just so we can watch those rebels turn on us later as has happened over and over again. While Assad is a bastard at least he is part of a formal government you can negotiate with. Once the rebels win or lose (doesn't really matter) they will no longer need us and will want us to butt out, which we will not do. Putin has it right. You get rid of one problem at a time, the first being ISIS. After they are gone then you can look at what to do with Assad.

Russia's primary target isn't ISIS. Russia's primary target is rebels threatening to overthrow Assad, because if he loses power it would take away the USSR's most important naval base (Tartus) to the Mediterranean Sea. The only reason he is hitting any ISIS targets is to play lip service to the Russian people cause they nuked one of their commercial airplanes.

Putin is not our friend in the fight against ISIS just like Stalin wasn't our friend in the fight against the Nazis. Don't mistake his tough talk and bombs as action. He is an enemy of freedom loving people everywhere.

Do you mean rebels or terrorists?
Are they moderate rebels, or extremists? If you say moderates...which group(s) are you referring to?

Russia was invited there to protect their interests and protect their ally.....ok. Can't say I disagree.
The US (edit: and Canada) sent troops there illegally to...?

Anyone remember when Russia offered to have Assad step aside, four years, 250,000 lives, and 11 million refugees ago?
