Someone should write an article about all the lines going on in the city today. Pearl Jam pop-up, Pope sighting, Apple Store, Cronut...

    :)

OK, maybe not, but I'm fascinated by it all.

This is great! It would be wonderful if they sold this shirt in the shop too.

OK, maybe not, but I'm fascinated by it all.

After this week (especially Wednesday) I never wanna see another line ever again lol!
Cab driver asked me if I'm gonna go see the pope. I thought to myself "naw, I only wait in crazy lines for hours for Pearl Jam."

Good luck with that ;) I'm a pretty patient line-waiter, but I want there to be universally accepted line etiquette. Like, no overcrowding please, the line doesn't move any faster if you keep stepping on my heels, bitch. And no, it's not cool for your 5 friends to join you in line in front of me 2 hours later.

  • can anyone give some insight into parking/subway info?

I'm coming from MA. Should I park at a subway station outside the city (can you do that?) and take subway in? Which line should I take? I'm only used to MBTA, the Metro is foreign to me

I'm coming from MA also. I'm planning on driving to the Stamford Metro North Station off 95 and taking the Metro North train in from there, dropping me in Grand Central. It's about an hour ride from Stamford and they have a parking garage. I think the round trip train is ~$20 bucks a head. It seems like the trains are scheduled ~20 minutes apart pretty consistently. I'm staying over, so if you're not I'm not sure how late the last train is to come back after the show.

I'll take a Pendleton and an Ames, thanks Chris
  • Sorry! I was talking more about today for the pop-up shop. Already have a plan for tomorrow.

I was more looking for some insight as to what the closest subway stop to the popup shop is, and if that line has a station where i could park.

I do this, too, except I park and take the train from New Haven (a two-hour ride to Grand Central). Traffic on 95 from New Haven to Stamford is worse than most of what you've encountered in Massachusetts. I've done both New Haven and Stamford, and New Haven is less aggravating for me.

If anyone can grab me a sticker that would be great. Don't want to push my luck and ask for a Pendleton print but might as well throw it out there if someone can. Will cover your cost and some extra for your trouble.

NYC subway stations don't have parking attached, at least not in Manhattan. I think you're better off doing what @dankind suggests, unless you know of a parking garage that you can park at. Manhattan is going to be a giant clusterfuck traffic wise today because of the Pope.

    Pope schedule:
8:30 a.m. Visit to the United Nations and Address to the United Nations General Assembly
11:30 a.m. Multi-religious service at 9/11 Memorial and Museum, World Trade Center
4 p.m. Visit to Our Lady Queen of Angels School, East Harlem
5 p.m. Procession through Central Park (time approximate)
6 p.m. Mass at Madison Square Garden

Street closures (too long to list): http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/html/pr/pr_2015_traffic_2015_09_11_papal_visit.shtml
