A little weird thing I did with a dance track loop - mixed up with live drums, guitars, bass.

I remember recording this one well. My wife and I were a few months from having our first child and I packed up the drum kit to make some space. This was the first demo I wrote up without the drum kit in a very long time. Bells, shaker, bongos and hand claps were my tools on the rhythm bit here. The P-Bass I actually mic'd up my Fender Princeton 115 (from 1994) and played the bass through it. I used both my EV Cobalt instrument mics up on the speaker of the amp and then used some EQ to smooth things out. It's the only time I've ever done it and it was a PAIN IN THE ASS trying to find the right place for the mics on the amp. I actually ended up with one right on the speaker mesh cover and the other one like 2-3 feet off the amp just off to the left of the speaker.

I dig this one a lot. You ever come up with lyrics for it ?

I haven't. I thought maybe I'd focus on my writing & singing more this summer & see if I can't do an album of my own!

I love how you stitched together your drum loops on Wild Woman! Very cool song!

  • Thanks man. I did those two on GarageBand with some loops I found online. Since then I have been using logic and found some better loops. Hope to post those soon.

Where can I find loops like the one you used? That would save me a ton of time stitching things together to make em' flow.

  • If you use torrents or perhaps reddit, loop loft loops are really great.

  • Also if there are any real drummers out there in Massachusetts or the central New England area I'd love to jam.

A couple more recent covers, just started to get back into recording some stuff after moving this summer. I've been trying to write, but...

...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

Love the SP cover. Such a catchy tune by one of my favorite bands!

Here's a cover of "Seasons." Love playing this song, but the tuning is super weird. https://youtu.be/DoptbL4N4Fk

I just started getting involved into a new style (but often used by many) recording project. Exhausted from the old boards, and another old friend who I've played in past bands with over the years are involved. My old friend comes over once every two weeks in a afternoon. In that time I come up with a song either on bass or guitar. Record it in Garage band. She writes the lyrics, sings and adds any other parts she wants in that same evening. Then we mail it off to Exhausted to add his finishing touches. All of us in one way or another are out of our comfort zone in this process. We do it all quick, unpolished and in the end it ends up really raw. And pretty much however the song is in that small period is the final version of it. Perfectly imperfect.

We have only had two sessions now, which amounts to two songs, and I'm in the process of editing some video to start posting the clips to youtube, facebook and on sound cloud. I believe tomorrow evening I'll have the first song up.

What does Exhausted do with it? Another board member and I have been doing a virtual thing going on 6 years now. I'm interested in hearing more about this.

Exhausted handles the magic... Solos, lead guitars, whatever it needs, whatever he wants..
