    All true. First though, we need to end entitlements to corporate America. Oil subsidies and tax breaks out the yingyang. Companies like GE making billions in profit and ending up with 0% income tax rate, even ending up in the positive.

    that is exactly what fox news does. it finds one or two instances and then they create a trend to make people believe it is widespread.

    i read something a few weeks ago that said a state, i want to say florida, drug tested something like 87,000 welfare recipients and only one person failed. fox jumped on it like a lot of people were failing their tests.

    No not Eugenics at all.Dont be silly,that's not what I said.

    But I do feel if you are taking subsidized payments from the Govt. and our tax dollars,then you should not be allowed to add to your need by having yet another life that needs supporting.Thats compounding your personal dilemma if your the recipient and continuing to burden the system.

    If an individual or couple want to have a kid,Knock yourself out.Hope everything is great.Everyone is happy and healthy.
    But you shouldn't be able to continue with entitlements if you do make that desciscion.I/we shouldn't have to pay for your stupidity.
    Obviously if you are having trouble making ends meet,then another mouth to feed and care for becomes idiotic to your situation.Remember you already can't afford what you need!
    When they get back on their feet and things are better and you no longer need assistance then have a kid.If you go on assistance with existing children no problem .But you shouldn't be able to add more.

    And why is it unreasonable to require people who need help with food and rent to submit to a drug test monthly or randomly.If you can afford drugs then you don't need help with food.Your just spending your money on the wrong things.Put down the pipe and go buy some food.

    Help should be for those who need and those who want to make their life better.Im all for giving those folks more assistance in Finding jobs ,education,housing,day care,transport and becoming self sufficient.

    because it costs more to administer the drug tests than it does to just give people the welfare money.

    I doubt that.we waste entirely to much money on bullshit.Fixing a broke system with some common sense rules is a start in the right direction.
    Oh wait,we have plenty of money.Lets just give the crack head more welfare ,we will just add more taxes to the rich and corporate America .Problem solved.We will just kick this shit down the road.

    welfare should be limited to I year unless there are medical or mental issues involved, there are just wayyyyy to many people/families making a living out of welfare and your damn right, any government assistance programs should require drug testing and while they're at it criminal and warrents back ground search...and welfare should be limited to one person per household, the whole idea of government assistance is in most cases temperary right ? unless there are like i said medical issues involved.

    RR, I can understand where you are coming from. Part of me says cut the abusers of the system off. But then what happens to the babies? Are you willing to let children starve to death like you see on the TV from programs on 3rd world nations. It's not the kids fault their parents are fuck ups.

    it sure is a shame that people like us even believe we need to take something away from people to better the lives of others, at that point we have taken away personal freedoms and rights for self indulgence of our own personal quest in this short life and we're all guilty in one way or another.

    No not at all.The kids should be first in line along with the elderly,Disabled and veterans.You just shouldn't be allowed to have MORE children while already receiving assistance.
    I don't think this is unreasonable to ask.

    But then children would suffer for their parents' actions.... Obviously the government cannot tell people not to fuck or force them to use birth control, or force them to get an abortion. And it would be wrong to refuse aid to children, whether they should have been born or not. I think at the end of the day this is just one of those things that can't be fixed. Not unless you want to start controlling human reproduction... which we know from examples in China and India, doesn't not go well at all.

    Again PJ,missing the point.Help the children of course.
    But if you are on assistance,then it needs to be clear that if you CHOOSE(There's that pesky personal responsibility again) to then have another child,another welfare baby who's needs you cannot meet on your own,and you are relying on the state to pay your bills then you are taking off assistance.period!!!
    This isn't right,it's a privilege.As a caring society we all put in money to care for those who can't.I think it's great and I'm glad it's there for those who need,but don't fucking abuse the generosities of others(govt/tax money).Part of the problem is some people CHOOSE to live off the system.Its easier then working.We all can see that with certain individuals and I agree it's un avoidable and part of it.But if that person then says fuck you to the system,I'm going to burden the load more because I'm a stupid ass and have more need to put on the system.Fuck that.
    What's with some of you all.Your willing to just give,give,give without thought as to who and what is impacted.Why can't you guys see that personal responsibility (this also mirrors ones actions in those police shooting threads) is something that must be required.One must own and be accountable for their actions.Im sick of excuses.I own what I do.I expect that of my fellow citizens
