Happy 20th Anniversary to an amazing show! I can't wait to read stories from people who were there for this show.
Several unofficial bootlegs have surfaced for this show. I have two versions and both are 3CD sets. Both are called "Live At Soldier Field". One is on Parrot Records (Black Cover Text) and one is on the Red Robin label (Blue Cover Text). One of my copies came with a really cool fold out poster with the 1995 Ames Summer Tour poster artwork on one side and the other side features a very cool anti-Ticketmaster/ The Who Quadrophenia themed artwork. Some sealed copies came with the poster and a live PJ cassette. I also have a couple of official releases for this show. (Thank you pjcollectors.com for the photos.)

07/11/95 - Soldier Field: Chicago, IL [155m]
attendance: 47,000
support act: Otis Rush and Bad Religion
set: Release, Go, Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Tremor Christ, Corduroy, Whipping, I Got Shit, Dissident, Even Flow, Improv/Sick o' Pussies, Deep, Jeremy, Glorified G, Daughter/(This Boy)/(The Real Me)/(W.M.A.)/(ABitW-II), Animal, Habit, Jam/Lukin, Not for You, Little Wing (teaser), Elderly Woman, Immortality, Alive, Porch
enc 1: Everyday People, Let My Love Open the Door, Better Man, Rearviewmirror, Black, Blood
enc 2: Yellow Ledbetter
notes: First night Monkeywrench broadcast the show through the radio. The crowd is pumped, with people crowdsurfing even during Otis Rush's set. Cool 'Tommy' riff after 'Lukin.' 'Black' lyrics are altered from "sun" to "moon" and Ed gestures to the full moon above the stadium. He jokes, "There's some fancy people in the skybox ... they're blinking to us, sending us a message up there." The crowd boos and he tells them not to get angry: "... you know life has a way of working itself out, you know? Think about this for a sec, right? These are the rich, fancy people, right? They got all the luxury, right? Looks to me, like they're the farthest ones away from the stage and they're behind a fuckin' window ... you hang in the trenches long enough, it pays off ..." Ed destroys his black Telecaster featuring the "skateboarding is not a crime" bumpersticker, smashing it against his mic stand. Producer Brendan O'Brien joins the band on keyboard for a surprising 'Everyday People' (a Sly and the Family Stone song) and then 'Let My Love Open the Door.' First lightning and later, fireworks, filled the sky this night. Amazing setlist and long performance with the pressure on in an intimidating venue.

One of my favorite bootlegs. Fantastic show!!!I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

Fuck me I'm old. That was a great show. Hot as hell that day if I remember0

My first live PJ experience. I was 20 years younger and just remember I had to use my mom's credit card to buy tickets. It was only 2 tickets per purchase. Asked a buddy to go with. Just before the show my girlfriend's friend's boyfriend had scored tickets with his girlfriends credit card. They were breaking up and just out of no where asks me if I want them. Got 'em and asked my brother and another friend to go. Driving to Soldier Field was an adventure in itself. Doesn't help that we dropped as we were getting close to the stadium without taking into account the traffic jam we hit. Talk about a trip kicking in while stuck in traffic!
The show? Well, that's well documented. Still have the shirt, aquired the 3 disc boot a few months later at some CD shop and picked up the original mint green vinyl a few years after the show.
Who would have known the significance in PJ history this show was about to make. What a night and what an honor to be a part of it.
On a side note...my bro had toured the parking lots during the Grateful Dead's show couple days before and said the grilled cheese are everything they're supposed to be and then some!
Gonna spin that vinyl tonight with a glass of wine....Soldier Field, Chicago, IL 7-11-1995; United Center, Chicago, IL 6-29-1998; MGM Grand, Las Vegas, NV 10-22-2000 ~PJ10~; Pepsi Center, Denver, CO 4-1-2003; Cricket Pavilion, Phoenix, AZ 6-7-2003; United Center, Chicago, IL 6-18-2003; Alpine Valley, East Troy, WI 6-21-2003; Fox Theatre, St. Louis, MO 10-5-2004; The Gorge, George, WA 9-1-2005; United Center, Chicago, IL 5-16-2006; United Center, Chicago, IL 5-17-2006; Pepsi Center, Denver, CO 7-2-2006; Pepsi Center, Denver, CO 7-3-2006; United Center, Chicago, IL 8-23-2009; United Center, Chicago, IL 8-24-2009; Rogers Arena, Vancouver, BC 12-4-2013; Key Arena, Seattle, WA 12-6-2013; iWireless Arena, Moline, IL 10-17-2014 ~No Code Show~; Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN 10-19-2014; Bradley Center, Milwaukee, WI 10-20-2014 ~Yield Show~; Pepsi Center, Denver, CO 10-22-2014 ~PJ24~: Wrigley Field 1 & 2, 2016; Safeco Field, Seattle Home Shows 1 & 2; Wrigley Field, Chicago Away Shows 1 & 2....0 -

What the fuck was Mike doing during Porch!? Still the best guitar interplay I've ever heard between Stone & Mike live. Period.www.cluthelee.com0

MIke's Immortality solo is my favorite of his ever I have seen live.
the crowd, the Q101 rips Ed was landing, making fun of the richies in the skybox, Mosh pits, awesome ticket stubs, an amazing set....one of my most memorable shows. The only one I was able to go to ever with both my identical twin best friends, and my sister, the heat, Jack!!! The Otis Rush band playing a version of Red Dot to lead into PJ's set. The boots sound great, Ed was really hoarse that day, but those of us who were there never heard anything bad out of his mouth, Wish they would play there again.Post edited by hrd2imgn on0 -
I knew that the "Skateboarding Is Not A Crime" Telecaster was destroyed at this show, but during the outro of Blood??? Eddie doesn't even play guitar on Blood. I'll have to watch the DVD again and watch closely.Jerome230 said:Eddies classic "SKATEBOARDING IS NOT A CRIME" Telecaster met its untimely demise during the outro of 'Blood'.

You would be correct. He pulled it from its stand behind him and smashed it into the stage. It would appear that RVM was the final song to ever be played on it.cropdustdair said:

Nice! Great work Jerome230!0
-
Just listened to this show, so amazing

Thanks for starting this thread cropdustdair.0 -
Is there a better sound quality boot available for this show compared with the bootleg vinyl? Or is the bootleg vinyl as good as it gets?'F*** the pessimists. F*** 'em.' Eddie Vedder0
-
Jerome230 is spot on. That Telecaster is beat to death at the end of Blood. I wonder who the lucky fan is that caught it after Eddie threw it into the crowd?? Talk about a nice piece of PJ history!0

Still to this day my favorite show. I made a few good decisions in my youth, driving to Chicago to see Pearl Jam at soldier field was one of em.0
