And you gotta do it on certain dates. https://www.globalcitizen.org/en/festival/2015/#giveaways

Take part in Days of Actions and earn rewards like tickets, VIP tickets, Festival Merchandise, and meet and greets with artists. Mark these dates, the window for action will be short but have a big impact on the world.

You don't have to do anything. If you're not into activism, buy VIP tix. If you can't afford it, stay home.

Not sure why people are pumped about this concert. PJ will perform like 12 songs, and a bunch of top forty music fans will be there just wanting to hear alive and Jeremy.

Seems like it isn't worth the trouble of attending for the average PJ fan.

I don't think that is a fair statement. There are many people into activism and do not need twitter accounts. They are forcing you into very specific activism that may not be right for some folks. May not be the right cause, may not be the approach people take, ect....

I hate to say it, but I signed up for Twitter for Global Citizen a few years back. I tweeted their things, got my tickets, didn't look at it again until now. You are not obligated to post a specific anything in your tweet - it can be "I don't support this cause". But it's certainly made you put an iota of effort into activism, which is the goal. Just be a global citizen.

Fair enough but I don't think "They are forcing you into very specific activism that may not be right for some folks" is a fair statement, either. No one is being forced to do anything. If you don't want to support these specific causes in these ways then don't go to the show designed to raise awareness about these specific causes. No one is forcing you to. It is your choice.

Anyone who disagrees with these causes is not going to enjoy themselves at this festival.

I see your point and I probably did not articulate myself well. I agree with these causes and "force" was a strong word. I do think they could allow you to choose the 9 action steps you would like to participate in in order to enter the drawing.

A couple nights in NYC. Hear some Pearl Jam in the park, along with Coldplay and Beyoncé which will be cool. I am not a top 40 snob though. If millions like the music there is some merit to it. I don't like Ed Sheeran but I like live music so it can't be all bad.

I would love if people had the attitude about this event as Global Citizen would like to project. Positive attitudes for change. Share. Care. Love your neighbor.

If this is an event that does not align with your political beliefs, it is an option to attend or not. I don't say this in a snarky, nasty kind of way. It does throw me when conservative people (sometimes extremely) complain about the activism of a very, very liberal band. I mean, they don't hide their views and beliefs.

If this is an event where you think that PJ is going to give a three hour show, it is not. They are doing something for the good of an organization. It isn't about them. It isn't An Evening with Pearl Jam. It is a night for Global Citizen. It is a night to gather to bring to light social tragedies and things that we can do to pull together to help others.

If your heart is into backing this charity, then I hope that you will consider reading the information that they have put out. I hope that you are able to score tickets and have a most kick ass time. There are those of us happily living vicariously through you. Truly happy for everyone getting tickets. Not a show that is an option for me, but I have a number of friends who are trying for it. I'm pulling for them all the way.

If your heart does not lead you to supporting this charity, I would ask that you consider not attacking the band and forum members over what is the basis of their only North American show of 2015. People just want to get together and have a good time.

some people find the dumbest shit to complain about

i dont think tweeting or signing petitions i didnt even read is "activism" at all, but seriously, a free concert in central park is nothing to complain about

How do you simply purchase tickets? Not VIP tix but just GA tix.
