Fuck! Riot Act LP damaged

Guys, since I'm off in the summer I broke out my Pearl Jam LPs and have been listening in order. I am on Riot Act currently and upon putting record #1 on the turntable I noticed some warping. My wife ordered this LP for me back in January 2003 when it was on Amazon for $15 and it's gotten some steady loving since then. None of my other Pearl Jam LPs have this issue. Even my fucking original press of Vitalogy from 1994 that I bought at Streetside when I was 16 plays perfectly! No warping!

So two questions for you Lost Dogs:

1. Only half of Can't Keep and half of Cropduster are affected by the warping. Yes, the rest plays fine, but this annoys the shit out of me badly. How difficult would it be to pick up a replacement record, just the first record?
2. My records have been stored like books on a shelf. Any 'sitting technique' you guys use to prevent warping?

    The first copy I bought of Riot Act on LP when it came out had a warping issue, as well. Maybe it's more common to find warped Riot Acts. So, it's probably not how you stored it.

    My Riot Act is warped too. In my case it is the second LP, and the warp is only on the first songs (You Are (sigh) and Get Right). The warp has been there since I got it. I'm posting in here to see if anybody has ideas how to flatten it safely.

    You should probably contact the 10c about a replacement. :)

    Seriously though, that's unfortunate. I do know if you put Riot Act on your want list on Discogs and stay patient, when the time comes that someone is only selling one of the two LP's of LP's only because their covers got water damaged or something. (for what ever reason) you can get it at a pretty decent price. You'll have to be patient though if you don't want to break the bank.

    My first lp was warped when i got it but it went away over time.
    I didnt do anything other than play it maybe that will work lol

    It has been a number of years since I spun it so I think I forgot sides 1 & 2 had issues. But I know it didn't come that way new because I would have returned it to Amazon right away. Looks like I found a new mission.

    Bummer. "Cropduster" is one of my favorite songs. I'll keep an eye out for you, because the method I've read for fixing warped records is not for the faint of heart.

    *Oh, and while you are on your mission, if you happen to stumble across a Binaural, Lost Dogs or Avocado LP, let me know. (The Avocado I had was warped beyond playability.)

    Yeah, I'm not going to try and fix the thing. I was thinking of seeing if I might convince someone to give me a non-warped disc for my white Backspacer record. I could go off and find the standard press of that anytime. Do you guys think that would work?

    I feel your pain. I store all my records the same way and put on my copy of Down on the Upside last year. It was so warped it was making the needle jump :( I'm trying to figure out a way to flatten out. The really wierd thing is that it's a double lp, kept in the same conditions, and the second disc is barely warped and plays fine.

    My riot Lps have a little warping as well, that's just the way it goes sometimes. But if it effects that's no good.

    You may try a record clamp, you can buy them all over online, they range in price, got mine for $50 and I use it every time, may get the warp flat enough to where it doesn't effect play and they overall help vinyl sound better. May be worth a shot anyways...

    Just get a thick piece of glass, I have a piece from an old coffee table. On a hot sunny day put the piece of glass in your car on the front or back dashboard and lay the vinyl on top of the glass. The direct sunlight will flatten it out all by itself. I've done this trick about 10 times over the past 20 years or so and it worked everytime. If never put anything on top of the vinyl either. Just give it a couple hours and it will be as good as new.
