I'm going to a grad school info session tonight. But I don't know which program I want to do based on my interests/should do based on my workload and the ability to get my job to pay for it... :anguished:

A good thing? Physical therapy! It sucks when you are in it, but the payoff is delightful in the end.

I agree. I'm so very sorry.

He's running for mayor. We had one mayor resign/retire. He's been in office for a very long 28 years. The council president was mayor for a whole week and a half. Now Kaboom wants a crack at it. If he wins, I think Susan will come down for his swearing in.

Hell yeah I'll be there for the swearing in! Mayor Kabloom. :giggle: Get the Chex Mix ready, Amy, we will have an afternoon of pure entertainment.
And yes, there will be Chex Mix, Swenson's, Thirsty Dog for those who so choose, and much cheering for the swearing in of Mayor Kaboom!

I'm not sure about this. When I tried to go to the store I could not walk. It was so bad I called the urgent care place to ask if it's something I could go there for or if i'd have to go to the ER. I decided to leave it until morning to see if it went away. I went to meet my friend and I had to walk the whole way grabbing on to buildings and fences. I say whole way, but it's only three blocks. I am going to have a word with them about this tomorrow.

Wow. That is a weird story. I'm sure that claiming a heritage/culture/race as your own happens, but this one is a bit more odd than I'm used to seeing. I didn't read the extending article about her parents, but do wonder what made them finally blow the whistle on her?

My daughter has the annual teachers vs 5th graders kick ball game. She's small for her age and young for her class. She was a late developer in the motor milestones arena. (Didn't walk until 17 months but was stringing multiple signs together to communicate at 6 months and talking full sentences at a year). She's just naturally laid back and a slow, peaceful mover. She rocks at yoga and was thrilled to finish our 5k under 45 minutes. unfortunately, she believes what the other kids have so perfectly taught her and that is... She's not athletic, she sucks at team sports and no one wants her on their team. :anguished: She is dreading the game despite liking to play. I had the same experience growing up and it took me until well into adulthood stop the negative self talk and to find my inner athlete. I don't want her to experience the same. SHE gets to decide who she is. They don't get to define her. FUCK them!!! I told her so before she got out of the car. She was like...OMG, Ok Mom got it... and off she went. I don't know if she got it. Please God let Selma kick that damn ball right over the heads of all those little shits!!

Go, Selma, go!! Rooting for her from my little corner of the world. And if she isn't able to kick the ball over their heads, may she accidently kick them in the shins.

I was the same way! It took getting hit in the for head with a softball four separate times for my dad to quit signing me up for sports! I'm just not sporty.. But when I got into track and field? I rocked! Just let her know, her strong suit is out there! She just has to be curious enough to find out what it is, on her own terms! GO SELMA!

I agree - I was small and slight (still am) and a bit intimidated in team sports when I was young so I also internalized the "not an athlete" talk, even though I was good at running and at some other individual sports. It wasn't until my late teens that I started hiking and realized that individual sports in the outdoors are where my talents lie - hiking, cycling, rock climbing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, all of which require more strength and endurance than batting a volleyball about for 45 minutes in a gym. shetellsherself, I hope you can help her realize her talents early on without her having to go through some of these less pleasant stages of childhood.
