I'd imagine the sound quality will be sub par, but it will be interesting to hear what he had been working on.

edit - just realized it wasnt solo because Pat Smear played on it, right?

It is listed on the back of wtlo as solo acoustic.

Agreed. I am confused though. When wtlo was released, courtney said "thats it, thats all of it", but out of nowhere there is enough quality and releasable material for an entire album?

No need to worry about quality when his fan base thinks he could read the phonebook and it would be considered a masterpiece.

yes, they have. but this isn't a record company thing. Kurt (solo) wasn't signed to a record company, so Geffen (or any other) would not have access to this without Courtney's and Frances' signatures. this is completely authorized and produced by his family, and is a companion to the film. it will most likely be distributed by a label, but this is nothing like the garbage Hendrix stuff that was put out in the last couple decades.

Based on everything I've read about Frances and stuff she's said, she seems to only want to do the stuff that shows her dad the artist, not to capitalize on money. it's not like a release of this nature is going to top the charts, either.

the new Beatles song that is being released on 7" sounds terrible. honestly, I'm not audio snob, but some of the stuff released on With The Lights Out was unlistenable. Interesting to hear once? Maybe, but when it's just a fuzzy sounding ghetto blaster recording, is it really worth all the hype?

The clips of the two tracks on the 7" that I have heard are pretty poor in terms of recording quality. I know they are demos but can't really justify the expense of having them on vinyl let alone a whole LP. Having something like this on vinyl just seems pointless. The songs themselves have something about them but the sound quality just not worth it IMO and I'm not an Audio snob either.
