Fernando Alonso was in a crash last month in Spain.
He sustained a concussion in the accident and, according to The Huffington Post (via the Spanish newspaper El Pais), woke up at the hospital "believing that it was the year 1995."
"Alonso suffered retrograde amnesia post-crash, which is said to not be unusual in patients who have suffered from a severe concussion," The Huffington Post reported.
Alonso knew his name but thought he was a 13-year-old who hoped to become an F1 racer at some point. He completely forgot he was a two-time world champion and was considered to be one of the greatest drivers of his generation.

Read that. Lots of speculation the last week on his accident. Seems ok now but is sitting out the Aussie GP.0

I wonder if he felt like Tom Hanks in Big? Do you think he went out and bought a foot-operated electronic keyboard?Rygar said:Read that. Lots of speculation the last week on his accident. Seems ok now but is sitting out the Aussie GP.

Maybe! Probably didn't feel quite as good.Jason P said:

Team confirmed the temporary memory loss. Oddly there is never this much talk of concussions in F1. Wonder how much other sports' progress in that area has helped. Granted, a head injury in F1 racing is often a lot more serious than a concussion!

How ballsy would it be for him to seek out a Zoltar machine right now and make a wish?Rygar said:

*yawn*
Good to see Ferrari up the pointy end straight away. Equally sad to see McClaren at the rear.I can't go the library anymore, everyone STINKS!!0 -
Button: "This is the car (the McLaren) that is going to catch them (Mercedes)".
...I laughed!
Well Mercedes sure picked up where they left off. Going to be boring at the 1-2 end of things.
Sauber looked pretty good. Overall I was pretty excited for the season to start and it wore out quick!0 -

Last year was fun to watch the Rosberg/Hamilton duel but not another season of it, please. The Mercedes car is much more dominant than the Red Bull was a few years ago.0

The problem with the Rosberg/Hamilton duel now is that I think it's a clear #1 and #2 so even the fight between them isn't much of a fight anymore.

True, but I don't think Rosberg is going to take orders too kindly. Especially after Hamilton didn't follow them a few times last year. (Although the race in my head Rosberg couldn't really catch him to make it much of a point.)Rygar said:The problem with the Rosberg/Hamilton duel now is that I think it's a clear #1 and #2 so even the fight between them isn't much of a fight anymore.

Sorry, I meant more in terms of talent. I think Rosberg just can't match Hambone, and hasn't been able to since Abu Dhabi (other than in qualifying). Just seems Ham has maximised his pace compared to Rosberg and it has a permanent feel to it!
I don't think they'll issue orders, and you're right, I don't think they'd follow them anyway.0
