I don't think this is a bad idea. But to me spending 2-3 months a year on Pearl Jam isn't exactly a full-time endeavor. I know Jeff said he hates when people say that and maybe we are missing all of the behind the scenes activities (which I'm sure there is a fair amount of it), but it would be difficult for me to think that they spend half the amount of time on Pearl Jam that I do on my job that is a lot more stressful since I don't have a bank full of millions to fall back on.brianlux said:I'm probably going to get torched and head slammed for saying this but I'd like to see the band split up for a few years (2 years minimum hiatus), each one venturing out and doing something else for a while, re-unite as a band with new fire and enthusiasm and start putting out killer alums again instead of (to my thinking) the fairly mediocre work of the last few albums (my take- I totally respect that some people are big fans of those albums). Other excellent examples of how this can work include Mission of Burma and Dinosaur Jr. For me, to see PJ do something like Burma and Dino have done that way would be fantastic.

The last thing I would want to see is for the band to split up!
Let them get a long free time if it´s needed but never split up! They just shouldn´t become a reunited band !!!
I think they have to get together writing their songs together again.0 -

Album. A new album will result in a tour to support the album so you get both new material (which lasts forever) and a tour. Pretty much win win. Why, do people think they would put out an album and not tour to support it?0

They could pull a 2005 or 2008 style tour - no new album but working on one.www.cluthelee.com0

I understand your feeling here, kce8. Perhaps I did not choose my words well. What I'm suggesting (and as we all know almost every big name band in the world is clambering to hear my opinion, right, haha!) is not so much a break up but more like a sabbatical. Back off a while, get inspired, go at it again. Either that or the go all out and become a regular working band again. Look at The Ramones. After their first three or four records they never released anything as good as those early records but they kept at it anyway. That was one hell of a work horse band.kce8 said:The last thing I would want to see is for the band to split up!

But the bottom line is, I don't really have any major complaints. These guys have put out a great catalog of music, they play their asses off... when they do play... and what more can you ask for? I'm still a fan.

Tour. No other band gets me fired up the way PJ does when I have tix to a show (And I've seen a LOT of bands). The anticipation and then the day of show are just a different feeling for me so I'll take a tour every time.Post edited by Abe Froman on0

Tour, definitely. I enjoy seeing a tour on a non-album year, as the setlists seem to be even more varied.
If not a PJ tour, I'd hope to see Ed solo this year. I've only seen 2 of those shows, in 2011, and have been dying to see another show since!"Sometimes you find yourself having to put all your faith in no faith."

-That PJ enters the studio again to record whatever comes to mind and just release it. No frenzy...

Agree on the no complaints part. As for a sabbatical, I think they were making their best work when they were playing more. Five years is too long between records. I'd like to see them go balls out for a year or two with a record smushed in there somewhere and then walk off into the sunset. Maybe playing a handful of shows now and then for good causes. Maybe a going out on top type of thing. Father time is undefeated and there will be an eventual decline.brianlux said:

Did you EVER think that The Rolling Stones or The Who would still be touring today????WhatYouTaughtMe said:
