So, has anyone ever seen Weird Al in concert? Apparently he will be touring with a date in Vancouver in September. I didn't actually know he even played live; I thought is was albums and videos. I'm thinking it might be entertaining but it would require some traveling and a night in a hotel, so not sure if it is worth it or not.

    AL is great live. Seen him twice. actually gonna hit up the show in August. He plays songs from all albums. You can tell what song is coming from the costume he has on. His shows are fun. He also signs autographs after the show. He doesn't announce it on stage, but just follow the crowd out the door by his bus. He will sign stuff, and take a picture with you. Very cool down to earth guy.

    I've been told that my vocals sound like Weird Al. I can kind of hear it at times, but I ain't trying to get a laugh. He's an amazing talent and I took it as a compliment, but I prefer music that bums me out.

    (My brain is foggy from lack of sleep right now. Apologies for the pedantic tone of this post.)
    The upcoming Vancouver show will be my 3rd time seeing him. Al's shows are a high quality production, seamless, and there's never a dull moment. There are costume changes, videos, & crowd interaction. I think it's worth it - full disclosure, I bought the top tier VIP ticket - but I understand being apprehensive given the need to come over from the island.
    Hope you decide to make the trip, though!

    Haven't seen him, but I imagine he would put on a great show - he is all about entertainment. :) I was thinking about going myself... just been spending so much on concert tix lately....

    Thanks everyone for your thoughts. As I was dithering about getting the Weird Al tickets, someone gave me tickets to Mark Knopfler, which is also in Vancouver just two days later. Since I can't stay the week in Vancouver, and it doesn't make sense to go over twice, I guess I have to give Weird Al a pass this time.
