I never thought about it before, but I just realized, to my surprise, that I've never seen a female performer in concert by choice. I guess I must have seen a few at festivals, but can't remember. And I saw Tegan and Sara open for a band once, and I hated them a lot. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Melissa Auf der Maur is also awesome.
And KD Lang's voice...holy shit, with its purity.

No way dude. Shes a superstar. She put out one of the best albums of 2013 (and 14 seeing as it came out 2 weeks before the previous year ended).
Some of the most progressive soul/r&b out there. Plus a killer voice.

Tori Amos. And I planted my bolo knife in the neck of mad John Finn. I took his wretched life.
Now I'm over near the bandstand, every hand moving on John Finn's wife...0 -
I'd LOVE to see PJ Harvey and Patti Smith perform one day. Cannot really think of any female artist that I have seen live right now. Odd.Please, Pearl Jam, consider a Benaroya Hall vinyl reissue! http://community.pearljam.com/discussion/148993/please-pearl-jam-consider-a-vinyl-benaroya-hall-re-issue0

Ok I started this thread and I said there's more. Well, right after I said that I had this performer whom I saw and met her backstage at the 9:30 Club in DC 2004. However, for the life of me I couldn't remember her name, all I could remember was her raspy sounding for and her guitar playing. Hell I don't even remember how her name came back to me but I know somewhere on Other Music I posted about her a long time ago.
Anyway, I went though my postings I knew and found where I posted in a Beth Hart thread. I must have been pretty buzzed to not recall her name. She was a guest of my friend Micheal Franti & Spearhead and she played some serious heartfelt songs...like this one "Over You"http://youtu.be/msDyYn81HxY
Here's another one "I'll Take Care Of You"http://youtu.be/aLR_bSzPTiY
She's a serious talent, I'm going to get several if not all of her CDs.
Peace

@g under p, Beth Hart is fantastic. I first came across her when I listened to her collaboration with Slash, Mother Maria (as an aside, that entire Slash album is pretty awesome):

So as one does, I looked her up and went to see her when she came to my city. Stunning.
This performance of I'd Rather Go Blind at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors for Buddy Guy was pretty amazing too, I think I teared up in front of my TV:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fALdOkf_eCM
To answer your original question, I'm actually not much into female voices, but my favourite shows have been:
- Lady Gaga
- Alicia Keys
- Patti Smith
- Brandi Carlile
- The Skins (female singer): I saw them at a CBGB festival thing earlier this year, before Billy Idol and Walking Papers, and they totally kicked ass!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn2tT8Z5cno

I was at the VH1 Rock Honours in Las Vegas where Gretchen Wilson played Barracuda with Alice in Chains. It was freaking awesome. If you haven't seen this video... you need to:

They performed it as a tribute to Heart which came on afterwards and played 4 songs (these gals are the queens of female rockers!)."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
June Carter Cash. Fantastic!
Crystal Gayle. What a voice!
Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads and Tom Tom Club). Terrific bass player, good singer.
The Go Go's. Early on, before these ladies were well known, they were more punk than pop and they kicked ass. What a group!
Debora Iyall (Romeo Void). Excellent singer, cool stage presence.
June Tyson (dancer/singer in Sun Ra's Arkestra). A lovely lady and fantastic dancer.
Sharon Isben. Superb guitarist.
Lydia Pence (Cold Blood). Nothing cold about this hot singer.
Jeannie Hoffman. (pianist/singer for the Jeannie Hoffman Trio. Back in the early 70's, a buddy and I used to go almost every week to see the Jeannie Hoffmann trio play in this little club on Van Ness in San Francisco. During regular hours, the band played mostly covers and Hoffman's voice and piano playing were superb. We got to know the band and bar keep well enough to stick around after hours and that's when things really got delicious- the band would jam and improvise like crazy. That was so cool!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

I was lucky to see them on the Speaking in Tongues Tour at the Hampton Coliseum Hampton VA with half of the venue closed off. Then went to Denny's late for work as a waiter. Then later in the morning on my graveyard shift guess who sits in my section to wait on him? Yeah David Byrne, he wine and a salad. He didn't believe me that I was at the show till I opened my uniform to show him my yellow no sleeve tour shirt. He laughed then I told him he owed me an autograph, he then preceded to give me one. That made my night along with a great great intimate show, never knew that would be their last tour.
Peace
