    Pumpkins will make it in
What better/more popular bands were there in the 90s than SP? Biggie/2Pac/Radiohead
They won't skip that whole decade.

I've met BC twice - once in 96' in St.Louis before the MCIS tour show and again in 2003 before a Zwan show in the Central West End (STL). Nicest fucking dude/rock star I've met. Gracious and thankful for the support and very revealing about his love of music. Also met Jimmy Chamberlain and talked with him for quite awhile outside of Vintage Vinyl. So appears he only acts like this with media pundits.

Yes, I have met both many times too(they played a residency in my town and I would just see them walking around on the streets) and agree that they are much more approachable in public than any of the guys I have met from PJ. not judging just making a statement.

I don't blame Eddie at all after what he went thru with the stalker thing.

I actually heard him on ESPN radio last night and they mentioned the Pearl Jam comments. He was actually very well spoken and while I don't remember everything he said he did say that some people in the music industry don't think that the band has lived up to their potential. He also said the fans would disagree with him.

I haven't listened to the Howard Stern interview, but the interview last night was not trashing on the band. Just him expressing an opinion.

SP will be in the HOf. Maybe not a first year entry, but certainly in their second or third year being nominated. They were just too big 94-97. You guys may be forgetting how massive they were in 1996.

That's your subjective opinion. The Gin Blossoms were staples on alt rock radio stations at the time, even if, in retrospect, they were easy listening. They sure moved a lot of product, back before everyone just stole shit. Everyone can't be Tool. For every band like Rage Against The Machine, you had to listen to a whole lotta Spin Doctors.

If we're talking about songs from 1993 that suck ass I nominate this...

Billy, from last night on Loveline:

"“I think the crop of the most important bands from that era: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Hole, Nine Inch Nails. There’s lots of honorable mentions, but I think those are the more influential bands that broke through at the other level that sort of set things in motion."

love this post... . I always proof my posts... and 90% of the time I have to edit.... its just lazy when people don't proof ... or they should simply read what they post and see if it actually makes sense...

Billy Corgan is a bloated, egomaniacal, douchebag and no one here, or anywhere else for that matter, should give 2 shits about his feelings on Ed or the band. The Pumpkins sucked, his voice is absolutely wretched imo, and he should just keep his mouth shut and go away.

He did not call them a great band several times on the stern show. It sounds to me like he got some backlash and realized what he said on stern was ignorant and he's back peddling.

I listened to the Stern interview and little bit of ESPN. He's diplomatic about the insults, but they're still insults and his opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

"If you listen to the band’s work, and I know they have a tremendous fanbase and they should, they’re a great band but you know, I’m a Beatles guy, a Stones guy and a Kinks but if you go to a lot of those other bands they just don’t have the work…

I just don’t think Pearl Jam have the songs. If you stack my songs up, Cobain’s songs up and that band’s songs up, they don’t have the songs. They’re a great band, still an arena act, they’ve gotten it done for a long time and I have to bow to that."

Are you Billy Corgans uncle? Because you're defending him very hard. The only positive thing corgan said was "I have to bow to them for that" when talking about how they still sell out arenas. But then he followed that up with "I'm confused as to why they're still successful."
