Limiting a product builds artificial hype and hype sells... and it also helps sell the NEXT product... people buy shit now on impulse that they don't even want, just so they have it, or out of a fear of "missing out" on the item... Take a look at the merch lines, grown adults waiting in line for 4 hours to buy $2 stickers and cheap quality shirts... myself included

Oldest trick in the book, grocery stores have been doing it forever... studies show if you put an arbitrary limit on an item you sell more of that item, even if the actual supply of the item is limitless... limit people to 10 cans of green beans and they buy 10 cans... Now companies are doing it on all sorts of products... sneakers, clothing, headphones, vinyl, hamburgers, whatever... it is all psychological... and works very well
