In my family, and some others too I have found over the years, it is tradition to state the things we are thankful for in our lives. Since there's literally thousands of us here, I figured we'd get started a day early. ( plus I'm taking a tiny break from prep cooking) so?? What are YOU thankful for in your life? ( if this lets me, we'll change the year each year, and we can keep a running record of wonderful things in our years).2014

    My wife likes to do this thing where you ask someone to list 5 things you are grateful for. I got to thinking, what is the difference between "thankful" and "grateful"? I found this: "It seems gratitude is the state of being and thankfulness expresses that gratitude." In any case, I'm thankful for:
    Life
    My wife, friends and family
    My cat
    Books
    Music
    Food/shelter/clothing
    Nature


    and if I could I would add to that list:
    Peace
    Rain
    A million dollars in the bank.

    No different than any other day or time of year - I try to take nothing (and no one, including myself) for granted.

    Memories of Thanksgiving as a kid include one so strong, with the table set in the dining room...nothing fancy, just comfy and homey...the lowlight of dusk coming through the slatted windows in oranges and pinks and reds, the smells of deliciousness, the sense of safety, security...being home.
