Hmm. I am not hearing the same thing guys. High bit-rate official mp3s of the show. Playback through iPod nano and my AT MH50s.www.cluthelee.com0

This was an echo that everyone heard.
I have the HD FLAC and I was there. It's not "horrible" or "muffled" or "unfortunate". It's what the building sounded like. If the echo wasn't there it would be inaccurate.Post edited by ikiT onBristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180 -
its just too annoyance for me..especially on slow songs..the tiki bomb said:This was an echo that everyone heard.

Annoying? For me, not at all. If anything, and this is just my opinion, the echo it made it live-r and realer. You can choose to be annoyed, I suppose, but you shouldn't be annoyed with the "quality" of the recording. I certainly did not take issue with the echo while the concert was happening, I was too busy having a good time. As I said before, I noticed it and liked it.
Everyplace you go, be it a high school gym, or a tiled bathroom, a hundred year old opera house, or the Fed Ex Forum (a 10 year old basketball arena) has an acoustic finger print. The organic interaction between the band and the building I thought was pretty awesome, again, just my opinion. It made their sound even bigger.
I'm glad they didn't record Back Spacer there, but it was a loud assed three hour rock show in a semi-new building that was designed for ice hockey.
They can't play every show at places like this..

Interesting because I thought ACL I has an open sounding echo to a lot of it, and that show was outside! More so on the vocals than anything else though. Doesn't seem as dialed in as last years boots- Jeff is no where near as heavy on this boot as he was in cvile IMOI'm like an opening band for your mom.0

This is SUPER interesting...
http://audiocominc.com/2012/soundsystem-installation
especially this line when talking about the arena wide audio upgrades that took place in 2012 (on an building constructed in 2004) "The BSS devices had to provide processing not only for the main arena, but also for several other systems in the suites, lobbies, concourse, press and interview rooms, gym, gift shops, restaurants, bar, and for the delay speakers under the balcony in the upper seating area."
as is this

I think you could set it up for hockey...I'm in agreement, the last thing Tennessee needs is another hockey team. It's the last thing any of us need really.ponytd said:

I wasn't there and i can't have opinion about what you listen at that time..i guess if i was there,it would be nice for me also..but when i listen to that in my home with headphones or not ,especialy on the slow songs, sounds creepy to me..Athens 2006. There's definitely something wrong with the audio. Some parts are fading in and out its not the building.0

It's a multitrack recording. All instruments are on their own tracks and the audience / ambience on their separate tracks. Turn up the instruments and lower the echoy ambiance when mixing => problem solved, accuracy lost or not, who cares. You're listening to the recording in your own system not piped through an arena pa anyway.the tiki bomb said:So the sonic accuracy of the recording annoys you?

I would hope that they're mixing the boots to be as true to life as they happened.
I personally don't want a soundboard recording with a diminished amount of ambient sound. For me, as far as HD FLAC 20 dollar live recordings go, the band, the crowd, and the space they're playing in, are all part of the equation. I'm not contending that the 2014 Memphis setlist was in the same league as Benaroya Hall, but if you listen to that recording, you could say that that loud-assed crowd should have been turned the eff down in the mix too.
It's like photoshopping a picture of yourself to make yourself look "better". You still look like that.Bristow 05132010 to Amsterdam 2 061320180 -
It's like not knowing how to frame the pictures you take. If you want a fine detailed portrait of yourself, you don't need a 360 panoramic background of your surroundings messing things up.225xxx - 6/28/00, 10/20/01, 10/22/01, 9/11/06, 9/22/06, 9/23/06, 6/18/07, 6/26/07, 8/15/09, 6/25/10, 6/30/10, 7/4/12, 7/5/12, 7/7/12, 7/10/12, 6/26/14, 6/28/14, 7/3/18, 7/5/180

We are really happy with the one hockey team we have.

And about Benaroya Hall, I've said it before and I'll say it again: it would sound a lot better without the hall echo. More intimate and in-your-face. Haven't bothered to even open the vinyl, because the sound is not that great
. The cd will do.

I dont think I agree with you. The fine detailed portrait is the album, Lightning Bolt, Back Spacer, Riot Act, months recording and fiddling with knobs and tape, and the output of precisely focused material. The boot? By it's very nature that is a quickly taken landscape panorama. If you're going to record and release 99% of your concert output, as this band has graciously done, the acoustics and reverberation of individual spaces should be totally apparent, not de-tuned or blunted. The crispness of the vocals, guitar, bass, and drums are still there, they're just made different by the space that they were performed in.mrk2 said:It's like not knowing how to frame the pictures you take. I have zero problem with the sound on Benaroya.
I'm not trying to dismiss you or disrespect you but I'm not sure what you consider to be great sound and I consider to be great sound are the same thing.
