The band is playing back to back shows. According to Google Maps it's a 6 1/2 hour drive from Tulsa to Lincoln. I imagine tear down after last night's show wasn't done until 1am and then all the trucks hit the road to get to the venue early this morning. Taking into account having to then unload and count today's merchandise before bringing it out to the trailers, you can forgive the merch crew members (just a couple of people) for being tardy. Hell, they could just have easily sold merch inside the venue and given the merch crew a few hours to sleep. Instead they're working to serve you. If you're unsatisfied, vote with your wallet.

I agree with all that you say. I'm just saying, they knew they had a show last night. Tell people 3pm. it gets in the way of people who have traveled a great distance trying to plan their day
    Agreed. Cut them some slack.

    its great for them!

    50 x $35 is a $1,750 "investment"

    Keep 1 themself

Sell them for $85 a pop on ebay and that's $4,165 or an easy $2,415 profit! That is a lot of memberships, chances for GA tickets, travel expenses, and such.

Do this for 5 shows and they are making bank going to and enjoying Pearl Jam shows.

I actually got out of the merch game. It has become way too competitive, expensive, and limited edition. I will get what falls in my lap, but Im not interested in these lines or stressing out, or paying some asshole ebay prices. Then you have variant this and variant that (which only seem to find there way into the hands of flippers)...

    Its out of control.

There were supposed to be two trailers in Cincinnati but only one. Enjoy the day and get merch inside the venue. Thats what we did in Cincy and had no problems getting what we wanted. Maybe a 10 minute wait.

    Funny story.
As we were walking across the bridge from Kentucky, we saw the extra merch truck along with all 5 buses parked down below the arena. I figured they were gonna open that one up for street level but they never did. We also saw inside one of the semis where the roadies were unloading their roadcases. Pretty cool stuff.

yeah, I guess if I was in that line it wouldn't have been.
I just ended up with a "regular-ass" Tour shirt I bought inside.
wasn't digging the poster at all and I don't do stickers.

I'm attempting to get out of the merch game. I will not stand in line for more than 30 minutes. If the line wraps around the block, forget it. It's hard sometimes because we live in a world with stuff everywhere, but I have to keep reminding myself that I'm there for the music and for the band. Not for the stuff.

That being said, I'll buy anyone's pins and stickers if you have extras :)) :))

The problem isnt the demand. Its the lack of employees working to sell this stuff. I was at 2 Garth brooks shows this summer, and im convinced more people buy shirts there. But the lines moved so fast with all the people they had working. Where the line in the St. Louis PJ show moved at a snails pace. It was a bit ridiculous.

This happens at nearly every show. It happened at Dallas, Portland, and Seattle last year where they were at least 30 mins to an hour late opening. Dallas was the opening show of that leg and by the time it was supposed to be open they hadn't even stocked it with merch. It's annoying and unprofessional, but it doesn't matter bc everyone is still going to spend all the money they have there anyways. There is no competition in the market for PJ goods so 10c can do what they want and not worry about consequences of lost sales.

In terms of flipping, I asked the merch guys at a few cities last year how many posters or stickers I could buy. No one cared, and said however many I had money for. I'm sure many of those people working the stand will do it for an extra $20 or so.

You couldn't give me $35 dollars to hang that Popeye poster up.

I prefer to get the signed/numbered by the artist directly off the artist's website. I have all most of the shows I've been to except for Bristow (my first show...cause that poster just didn't do anything for me...)

Liberate yourself from merch period like I did. think of all the money, frustration, time, and hassle you will save. I flat out refuse to stand in line for 2 or 5 or 7 hrs for this.

In theory it's a good idea that was convenient to the fans if they could actually quickly and efficiently get what they wanted and stow it away in their car or hotel room. Instead it's become a cluster fuck of epic proportions and it's bringing out the worst in fans and pushing greed over this stuff to even more epic proportions.

I'm half tempted to make my own t-shirt that says "This is Not a Pearl Jam T-shirt" in a nod to Fugazi. I'm starting to think they had the right idea for not selling merch....

^^^ yup. I'm done with it. Well said.

Just look at us, sitting in those long-ass lines... and getting mad at others stocking up on shit to sell to the other people at the end of the line at inflated prices at a later date. Its pretty off-putting. Just swearing it off and leaving the fray is liberating.

Maybe if the 10c would create some sort of preorder package of shirt, poster, sticker, pin for ticket holders I would be down.

My moment of realization was at Wrigley, when I saw the ridiculous line and found out that people were in line an average of 3-4 hours before getting to the front, and even then, they weren't restocking things quick enough so you could get to the front, and still not get what you wanted! No thank you.

I just looked at the seat map there...Once those folks get inside the Pinnacle Bank Arena there in Lincoln Nebraska...they're in for something special. That place is frickin' SMALL, and the boys? they're gonna bring it. A good time is guaranteed. Stop worrying about t shirts.

When I went to the merch trailer today they said only 2 posters per person. so I'm pretty impressed with that. They were almost an hour late opening but all in all i enjoyed talking to the people around me made the time go by quicker.

It is really a lose-lose for the folks running the merch booth, for if they say 3 pm and the stuff gets there early and they open earlier than 3 pm, then people are pissed. If they say 1 pm and they are late, then people are pissed. You are there, you are going to get merch. The plan for your day should be to hang out and revel in the fact that you are going to see the greatest band in the world play in a few short hours! Just my two cents... :)

For the record, not everyone hated the Cincinnati poster. I loved it. I admit that I'm an artist and work at an art gallery as display staff. My degree was in printmaking, so maybe I look at it a little differently. It hangs on my hallway wall. I can see that it definitely isn't something that would appeal to everyone, but I can tell you that Popeye and ACL week 1 wouldn't have been my thing. Different strokes for different folks. Just glad that the poster for the show that we went to was something that appealed to me. To quote my husband, "They couldn't have printed a poster that was more you." And yes, he likes it, too.
