Answer any or all of the following: What 3 songs have you heard most often as openers? How many distinct openers in how many shows? Favorite(s)? Any song you really didn't like as an opener? And what song do you want to open the next show you see?
For me: 30 shows, 17 different openers (pretty amazing). Most often have been: Pendulum (5), Elderly woman (4), HTI (3), and Release/Go/Long Road each x2.
My favorite openers that I've heard: Release, Pendulum (especially when followed by Release at #2!), HTI, Long Road, Of the Girl, Present Tense, and Go (especially when followed by Animal-- though I generally prefer a slow opener, the Go-Animal start is amazing).
I find Elderly Woman as an opener a total buzzkill, nor do I like Why Go.
I'd be happiest in St. Louis with Release, HTI, or Of the Girl (though that won't happen I assume since they've done that there before). Also really like Present Tense as opener.

I got Pendulum at all 3 of my fall shows last year, and this is my most repeated opener.
The only other song I've got as an opener more than once is Release...got it at PJ20 Night 1 & Wrigley!
Long Road at my first show...never had it again, would sure like to change that this fall!!
I've had Corduroy, Last Exit, Breakerfall, Can't Keep, Oceans, Wash & EWBTCIAST as openers too & my favorites have been Release at PJ20 & Oceans in Columbus '10!!
The only opener I don't have that I REALLY WANT is Hard To Imagine...hoping to get this in either Lincoln or Moline this year!!!

Besides for release bc i think that is the best opening song ever, of the girl was my favorite even though that night it was supposed to be oceans.

Release is always great but really enjoyed sometimes in St. Louis in 2010. Release at PJ20 N1 was something to see and hear. I don't think I will ever forget that. Absolutely defining at the first note. Looking forward to hearing pendulum. Really want to hear Oceans. I know this won't be popular but Hard to Imagine was just ok.
All that being said open with a reading of the phone book with a Mike solo, sweet Jeff bass groove, a Stone duck bob and Matt rolling on the drums. I'm good.

But I've heard more traditional 'openers' such as Release, HTI, Wash, Of the Girl, Long Road as 2nd songs during my shows, since they tended to do that since opening with Pendulum.
Favorite openers that I've heard are all of them since there are only 3 if you want to get technical, but Release, HTI, Long Road, and Of The Girl are my favorites!
And because of this, kinda over Pendulum opening shows I'm at by now! I do really enjoy the song, but having heard it open my last 7 shows, I'd definitely prefer hearing something else.
Hoping for Release in Detroit in a couple weeks!

Present Tense in STL was incredible! I love Sometimes and 2010 STL was an amazing version. Also loved LBC. Can never go wrong with Release. Of The Girl sets a really cool vibe as an opener as well as Long Road. Even after all that being said I think Oceans has been my favorite opener so far. I guess Why Go has been my least favorite but still kicked ass. Really hoping for Pendulum in STL or Tulsa coming up!
