I'd like to know this, too.. my guess is CD-R now, and silver pressed CD's when/if they'll release the boxset, like for the 2013 ones..0
-
I'm wondering the same too. Still waiting on the 2014 CD box set. So far every Pearl Jam show this year had a official CD release. Don't see why they wouldn't release a box set. I'm guess this October 10th, we'll be able to pre-order one.0
-
Yes, the 2014 boots (and also the 2013 ones, apart from apparently the 2013 boxset) are CD-R.0
-
It's strange if you buy the CD's individually, they are CD-R's. But if you buy the box set, they are silver CD pressed discs.0
-
I guess the individual boots are burnt to order (more or less).
I wouldn't have thought they'd sell enough of the boxset to make it worth pressing CDs, but I could be wrong.0 -
2014 EU Tour is CD-R...a bit disappointed to be honest...0
-
It's funny that under forum rules, you CAN'T sell cdrs or unofficial "bootlegs". But apparently it's OK for them to sell them to us?
They won't even let you sell old unofficial "bootlegs" that ARE silver pressed from the 90s. I don't get it.0 -
what's the difference between the two?I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

The CD-R's Nugs uses are Taiyo Yuden Yuden brand discs. The #1 quality brand of CD-R's around. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiyo_Yuden .mcgruff10 said:what's the difference between the two?
The difference is many old school standalone CD player's can't read CD-R's. They could only read silver CD discs. Both Taiyo Yuden & silver CD's will last a very long time, when protected & stored the right way.0 -
True. I even have average quality cd-r's burned in the 90s that still read/play fine. The arguement against burned discs is eventually the dye will break down they will become unreadable. The problem is how long. Quality discs could take decades. It might be long enough to outlive the usefulness of the format. On the other hand silver-pressed discs should live on forever which seems to be a good thing (assuming I still have a way to play cd's when I'm 80).demetrios said:

Aesthetically speaking silver pressed are preferred because they look more professional. When ever you have burned cd, it always bugs you in the back of your head that you could of burned it yourself. I buy the shows I go to because nugs does a better job with the artwork than I ever could be bothered to do, but it still crosses my mind that I could also burn discs

There's a distinct difference. Unofficial bootlegs are unauthorized recordings put out by companies who never paid the band (or their record label) for the rights to sell those recordings (aka music).
While pearl jam calls their live albums "bootlegs" they aren't really bootlegs. They are official live recordings the band sells themselves, and is therefore compensated for.
It's not a surprise at all the band wouldn't want unauthorized merchandise bought and sold on their forums (or even ebay for that matter). It's someone using their name (and music) to make money for themselves. While you might of bought the unofficial boot 2nd hand, I can understand why Pearl Jam (or any other band on the planet) wouldn't want to allow distribution of said items.0 -
Yes. Even since the 2008 the individual shows are on a CD-R.just_one said:Did Kufala used CD-R aswell?

Any idea where/who/what produces the tri-fold, 3-disc sleeves they use? I have searched the ends of the internet looking for them. I've emailed Nugs twice and they won't even bother to respond. It's like I'm asking for a trade secret or they think I'm going to start a business to compete with them. No, I just want like half a dozen of the friggin' things for boots I've downloaded & burned myself.demetrios said:

While Kufala used Taiyo Yuden discs, Nugs definitely uses a different disc. There is a visable difference in color richness.demetrios said:

Ah. Quick 10club board search http://community.pearljam.com/discussion/230638/bootleg-box-2013-shipping/p5 which you posted ... they are using these discs. http://www.mediasupply.com/falcon-media-blank-cds.html . T80-UG-5. Still Japanese brand which is good, but should be Taiyo Yuden brand.CopperTom said:

It's just confusing. For those who buy individually a bootleg will receive CD-R's. But for those who buy the box set will receive a silver CD pressed product.0 -

I've seen those... I like the two-pocket ones, reminds me of the ones from the 00-03 tours. Still in need of three-pockets though.Bubba said:Just found these....have to order 100 at a time though...
