Front Row GA Floor advice

So I was lucky enough to score GA floor tickets for a show this tour. I want to try to make the most of it and stand in the very front along the rail if possible. What can I say, it's still on my PJ bucket list. Does anyone have any advice on when to show up to the venue to help my chances of standing in the front? I can't recall offhand what time the 10C releases the GA tickets but I'm assuming a line gathers at will call way ahead of that time and then goes from there. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

    Go now and line up!!

    No, seriously. I would be there looking for a line by 7-8am at the latest. Make line friends or have your ticket buddy hold your spot for bathroom breaks and to pick up tics at will call. But it's better to enjoy your day and have fun. Show up when gates open and not worry about it. Good luck

    I usually show up in a GA line between 12:30 -1:00pm and end up standing anywhere between 2nd-5th "row" center.

    I was at the OKC show last year and a fanclub member there had a notebook where you could sign your name next to a number. You then wrote that number on your hand with a Sharpie and went on your way. About an hour before the doors opened people started getting back in line by their numbers. Not sure if that was a one time deal, but it worked well.

    Whatever you do, DO NOT, repeat DO NOT, sign "the list." It's the biggest piece of shit, and Ten Club is opposed to this practice.

    Just search "the list" plenty to read about that.

    I was wondering what time as well as I have GA shows on this tour for the first time and want rail atleast once

    The issue with the list is that most people wait in GA line all day while others leave and come back shortly before the show feeling entitled just because they have a smaller number on the list. It simply does not work in most cases. :( There were numerous issues with the list in the past, so 10 club sent an e-mail to those attending the last Euro tour, disapproving of this practice.

    If you want the rail, I'd be prepared to spend the night...I hope I"m wrong, but if the Europe shows were any indication, you need to get there the night before. I've been lucky to get the rail a bunch of times now and It's worth every minute. Some of my best PJ friends were made while standing in the GA line. Good luck!:)

    I've been to the Euro shows and I've been to the US shows. They are very different. No need to line up the night before for the US show to get the rail.

    Period.

    Not to mention, the people you'll meet are pretty damn cool too.

    With that being said, lining up at the "official" GA entrance at 9am and being e.g. 15th in line is not going to get you into the venue any quicker than going to a different entrance and being first in line...

    In other words, unless GA has early access to the venue (as was the case for most European shows in 2012), your ticket guarantees you entrance to ANY entrance at the venue, and gates open at the same time.

    Once inside, if you have GA, you'll end up on the floor - you'll just have to walk a bit longer to get there than everyone else.

    Long story short, if for some reason you can't get there in time...

    OR

    e.g. you'd rather spend your time reading Horton Hears a Who to a kindergarten class...

    Go to any entrance and be the first to line up at that entrance...

    Once inside, run like hell... You'll be at the rail... far before most people who wrote a number on their wrist.

    This wasn't true in Seattle last December. Those of us who waited all day were walked into GA by venue staff. I didn't see anyone running from another entrance to get the front of the pit…probably because they would not have beaten us there. It worked perfectly and every venue should do it this way. If people are running down steps to try to get the front of the pit it can lead to accidents and no one (fans, PJ, and venue alike) wants that.

    Sorry, I didn't mean to say run and have it taken literally - my sister is a bit slow as is, and we (quite literally) walked to the rail.... Of course, you should take it slow.

    Seattle as you describe sounds roughly the same as Oslo a couple tours ago - we entered as groups and every 10 or so, and a security guard walked us in. Those European shows were different because GA doors opened up about an hour before every other entrance (IMO hands down the best approach).

    Maybe Seattle was different from the rest of the tour, but everywhere else you could leave/return to the GA section as you please. Once all the doors were open, everyone had the same "privileges" - a GA ticket gets you to the GA section, regardless of how/when you enter the venue.

    I'm not writing this to try and cheat the system - sitting in line and meeting people is downright awesome, especially given the type of people who are in line.

    All I'm saying is that (e.g. Worcester), staff venue told us repeatedly there was one entrance for GA.... And under any other circumstances, I probably would have listened.

    I didn't.

    And again, its not out of disregard for people who "deserve" their spot on their rail because they waited in line all day... It was for my sister... And I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

    Long story short, if your kid has school during the day, you can go wait in line all day and e.g. have their father/mother drop them off.... OR.... if you're traveling to a foreign city that you've never been to before, you can spend the entire day sitting in line at the venue (staring at a fence).... OR... you can show up at the front gate and hand the ticket collector your ticket, and then *walk* to your seat.

    Regardless of what you do, if you do make it to the rail (especially towards the right or left of the stage), please wear ear plugs.... And please please please DO NOT RUN LIKE HELL.

    Maybe...depends on the venue, In Philly and LA last year you couldn't enter with GA anywhere but the designated entrance. That doesn't mean it couldn't happen (getting in another door) but best to check with local staff once on site.
