Sirens live

I've heard almost every version of sirens played so far and it always sounds like a trainwreck to me. I applaud the band for working so hard at it, but it just sounds like a beast to play. Does anyone have a favorite live version, or a different opinion?

NOLA sounds pretty good. I think Pittsburgh too. Cant really remember.

In my opinion the best PJ song since Sleight of Hand

Haha! That's so funny bc I have a little PTSD with sirens. I get anxious when I hear it on bootleg bc I want so badly for them to get it right. I love the song but there were a few issues with it in the fall tour. Out of tune guitars, timing off, missed lyrics. When Ed comes in on the acoustic after mikes solo he sometimes hits it a little too hard. He doesn't finesse it quite like mike does. However I really like the Portland version. None of those issues. Nola was good too. Can't wait to hear it this fall.

They often seemed to have technical trouble with the guitars on the NA tour, and Ed never seems to remember the lyrics. But I still love listening to it live, it's a powerful song.

The Vienna version, hear how strong the crowd continues the outro of the song just as the guitars are fading away.

  • Eddie had to have the lyrics written on the stage floor for the first Amsterdam show.

Like... this is one of your biggest singles ever (12 million views on youtube)... know the lyrics...

But I dug it at all the shows I've been to, even if it can sound a bit rough on the boots afterwards.

  • I saw it twice this summer (Stockholm and Leeds) and I thought it was great, especially with the tags.

Of those two I prefer Stockholm, I love the "It's great to see you again" tag/adlib in the outtro and I like the sound of this boot alot.

For some reason I just can't get into this song. I skip it a lot of times when listening to LB. Maybe hearing it live in Cincy will change my opinion.

Before I saw it live I kinda thought it was a bit embarassing...after seeing it live I've come to like it a lot. But the studio version is still a little too slick for my liking!
  • Well this was the song that got his long-time guitar tech fired, so it seems the guitar issues have been resolved. ;)
  • thanks for the feedback! I listened to a few more versions and I really like the one from Portland.. but for some reason iy neversounds that great to me. The group singing at the end is rad though.

Sirens was my first PJ song seen live, at Nola actually so it's a very special song for me. And I am biased to their performance of it in New Orleans.

Even if it's not perfect live, for some reason it hits me so hard....always brings a tear to my eye. And to think I hated the song upon the first couple listens!

Need to listen to some Euro versions, but as far as the shows I saw last fall, Brooklyn 2 is a pretty decent version

Agreed. I've seen it live 3 times and still didn't change anything for me. I think this has become my new piss break song.

I remember seeing that issue, was it in L.A.? Has it been confirmed the guy was actually fired? Hope it's not true. That seems kind of harsh. Ed fucks up a lot during songs. How crazy would it be if Stone turned around and said, "that's it! Your fired!" Hahaha
