Received a Damaged Trieste Poster and This Was The 10 Club Response.

I received a PJ Trieste poster recently and there are noticeable creases on the poster, so I e-mailed the 10 club. I thought that I could send the poster back and receive one that was mint, but this was the response:
"Hello,
Posters are sold As-Is. No refunds. No returns. If you would like, you may send your poster back for a refund, but you are responsible for shipping fees.
10c"
I have heard from other 10 clubbers that his has not been their policy in the past.
Obviously, this is my only copy of Trieste and I am not going to return it. Not to bitch about it...the poster is still great and I am happy to have a copy which will be framed. I assumed that the policy above was just for scratch and dent posters.

Yeah, i have seen that message many times. I think it's right there when you're ordering posters actually, but someone would have to confirm that. I have never ordered a scratch and dent, so pretty sure the rule isn't just for those.

Always read the fine print! ;)

That is surprising. Not a good policy.

Did you include photos? I had an issue with a damaged shirt & got it replaced without any problems, but I've never done posters.

Had a couple problems on the past and 10C has been extremely helpful...

  • I had a problem a while back with my manchester 12 poster when it arrived with water damage. Money refunded when poster was returned but cost me the shipping back to the US from UK.

The 10 club amazes with awesomenesses so many times. Other times they unexplainably fall short on what you would expect.

On another note. I also ordered the Trieste poster, and haven't bothered to open my tube yet. Now you have me concerned.

I had to rip one up and send pics but was also told that posters are sold as is. Luckily they made an exception but the new one was damaged too. Ha. Lol. Luckily it was just a Nobelsville. I made it work.

This is another example of a few ruining it for many. There are people who would buy show prints, slightly damage them at the show, buy a new one from the 10c, them try and send their damaged show one back for a second "mint" copy. I agree with this policy because as the merchant, you don't know who's telling the truth (majority) and who's taking you for a ride (minority). Giving the buyers money back is the only fair way they can protect themselves.

Shitty your print got ruined. It happened to me once in 2006. I was given the option of returning it. I ended up plakmounting it and despite it being plastered to a purse of wood now, all the creases are pressed out of it and it hangs nicely in my unfinished basement.

That is unfortunate. I bought the same poster. I just looked and didn't see that the poster was sold 'as-is'. If the poster was damaged BEFORE sale you have a legitimate complaint. If damaged after it left the 10C then that's another issue. It may be clear from the shipping poster tube what the case was.
As "Dead Man Walking" points out there may be cases where people are asking for non legitimate refunds or replacements. But if you bought a poster off the website that was not specified as 'scratch/dent' and it was clearly not damaged in shipping but arrived damaged , (which indicates it was damaged before shipping) you deserve a replacement without cost.
It may seem trivial, but contact the Better Business Bureau. If you are legitimately affected, remember that you are a consumer and benefit from certain rights.

Also as for the case of Trieste the poster sold out online. I don't think they keep many laying around waiting for returns. They probably just stash a few away in some dark corner, never to be heard from, until the next mystery poster sale.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

I received the Munich 2007 poster and the tube was crushed, so was the poster inside. I emailed them and received the exact same response. I've ordered a lot of stuff over the years and this was the first time I've ever emailed Ten Club. I was pretty shocked with the response. I spent $50 for a damaged poster and this stock answer with no attempt to resolve the issue was quite disappointing. Oh well, I've heard some stories like this, I guess it's my turn.

Wasn't going to open my Trieste poster up anytime soon, until I saw this thread. Luckily mine is perfect. Sorry again to the OP. That sucks.

If the policy is no refunds and they're still offering you a refund then they're going above and beyond their policy. Sucks that the mailman or whoever ruined your poster but thats pretty cool of 10C to offer a refund.

If there's visible damage to the tube, and the poster is damaged as a result, the blame lies with USPS or whoever delivered it - initiate a claim against the carrier. It's out of 10C's hands as soon as it leaves their warehouse.

There was no obvious damage to the shipping tube. The creases are most likely imperfections and if there was a scratch and dent poster sale still it would belong in it.

I thought the shipper was responsible for filing claims for damage with the carrier?
