Misheard Lyrics???

So not to make light of all the topical discussions that are going on right now,
but I thought it might be interesting to hear some of your (false) interpretations of PJ lyrics.

Here is a my dumbest story:
When I first heard PJ play Animal at the MTV Music awards,
I thought Ed was singing: " I'd rather be with a LIGHT-NING BOLT" (WTF?)

I know that it doesn't even make sense but I think it is a little weird that they ended up naming an album that.

I use to think that "lick the dirt off a larger one's feet" in Rats was "like the dirt off Olajuwon's feet"

Hakeem Olajuwon was pretty dominant in the early 90's and plenty of basketball ties to Pearl Jam so still think it makes sense.

MFC - I still hear "let's commandeer" instead of "ask I'm an ear". :P

Over the last two decades, I've often jokingly sung this! Glad I'm not the only one who "hears" it.

I know someone on here has this as their signature but can't recall who... but "Four or five virgins and a pelican" for the chorus of Glorified G

There is also a member on here whose screenname is "The Waiting Trophy Man," obviously a play on Corduroy.

Back in '92, my sister thought the chrous to Jeremy was "Jeremy spoke it, yes he did."

And how about "Free cookie dough swirls all around" for Smile.

Back in the day, I thought Jeremy had a substance abuse problem when Eddie exclaims "Jeremy's smoking crack today".

When I first heard RVM, I thought Ed was singing "Zombies...zombies" instead of "Saw things.. saw things.". It made perfect sense to me that he'd be sounding a little frantic, and you'd really want them in your rearviewmirror instead of in front of you.

The first one that comes to mind is from "Grievance;"

Thought he said "Progress....taste it....and pass it on..."

I posted this in another thread, but in faithful he says M.Y.T.H is......I thought Ed was saying and we're teen ages....
I had no idea what a teen ages was, but I thought who am I to question ed, he knows what he's doing.

I thought this until about 6 months ago. I was actually a little disheartened when I found out the truth :(

I always heard "pissed on my plate, swallowed it down" in RVM. I was young back then

I still sing it that way. Hell yeah. An ode to Olajuwon? I'll always think of it and think of the 90's that way.

The first few times I heard Yellow Ledbetter when I was in high school, I thought EV was saying a box or a bag.

I thought maybe he was a bagger at a grocery store...who knew. Maybe it is because I worked at a Kroger at the time.

For 16 years I thought the lyrics to Dissident were “like a warmest place” instead of “like a word misplaced”

    Me too.

How bout this interpretation that makes absolutely no sense. Even flow: "maybe someday he'll see a better Sadder days". WTF would that even mean? It was a while ago but still
