I heard about this story last night. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. Have they found out why the guy did it?ELITIST FUK0

I just read that two of the victims were in a band. Earlier that day they had played a sold out show for their cd release party. Such unnecessary violence, so heartbreaking. My thoughts and support goes out to all that have been affected.0

This is a weird one. The finite details have not been released yet. We know a little of the people involved, but motivation and relationships have not been defined.
I think 5 people didn't just sit there waiting to be killed by a guy with a knife without attempts made to overtake him. I'm thinking the accused was a clever little rat that managed to attack members at the house in singular fashion without each victim alerting the others.
I could be wrong. I'll have to wait and see.
The piece of shit was trembling in the dark- likely feeling really sorry for himself and questioning the wisdom of taking 5 lives in violent fashion when the K-9 unit took him down. He suffered a bite wound. Unfortunately, it wasn't on his neck."My brain's a good brain!"0 -
They played that EP release party on Saturday night. I was at the show because my friends band was playing just before them. They were really good and very young. Kind of shocked when I heard who they were. I was bummed when I remembered seeing all the parents of the band members dancing away having a good time and being obviously proud of their kids rocking out onstage.wasa1971 said:I just read that two of the victims were in a band. Everyone around my circle of friends here in Calgary are in shock. Also the murders happened pretty close to where I live so that makes it a little weird too.
Here is the band.

Because it seems thus far to be "random" I'm convinced mental health will play into it. They obviously had some common relations, as they were at the same party. Your right, we will have to wait and see.Thirty Bills Unpaid said:This is a weird one. The finite details have not been released yet. My time at university saw several really odd behaviours on the part of many students at the end of term and end of year. Never like this though. You may be right with your assertion, but it is safe to say there are multiple variables at play here- let alone the ones we know nothing of.wasa1971 said:

This is a real life nightmare. I feel terrible for the parents of these kids. You don't send your child to university and expect this to happen.

He was an invited guest to the party ... so he was known by the party goers. I agree mental health will play into it, because you would think no sane person would EVER do this. Let him rot in prison.Post edited by lukin2006 onI have certain rules I live by ... My First Rule ... I don't believe anything the government tells me ... George Carlin

I think anytime someone goes on a rampage like this it is, to my way of thinking, madness by definition. It's sad that some people get that screwed up in the head but it's also tragic that when they do they don't either get help or take themselves out and leave innocent people alone.wasa1971 said:

I agree that there is way too much violence today- we're in that kind of time frame right now in history. On the whole, we would do well to explore what the root cause of all that violence is including causes related to social, environmental, educational, health and resource issues.

You're right ... too much violence. Sad society we are living when violence is our only solution to a problem.

if there is a bright side to this story is that the guy is still alive and hopefully he will have the integrity to tell us why he did this ...0

How and why such episodes keep presenting themselves is a good question to ponder.lukin2006 said:brianlux said:

Is it as simple as a cut and dry epidemic of mental illness manifesting in violent episodes? Have people perhaps become 'weaker' and less able to deal with the stresses in their life? Is it unfathomable to consider that we might have become so desensitized to violence that committing such an offence is a reasonable option for an emotionally unstable person? Has the value of a human life diminished?
We have always had such blemishes on our society, but it just seems that more and more... these violent episodes are the result of some new individual needing to express his affliction and these stories are, with growing frequency, less isolated. It's very troubling."My brain's a good brain!"0 -

Mental health playing into it? Don't see how it couldn't completely be the issue. Licensed therapist here, so I'm pretty fucking biased.Post edited by 2-feign-reluctance onwww.cluthelee.com0 -
Just more and more humans and with that comes more chances of mental illness, Add the modern world can be stressful to beings that didn't evolve fast enough to keep up.
