I'm skipping RSD this year and by looking at the list not missing much. Gonna spend my money at the Arcade Fire show. Having a limited budget sucks but this year not missing much. Wouldn't mind the Mudhoney or Hendrix vinyl but not a big deal. It does seem like there is a lot of records this year. Hope the market doesn't get flooded.
Yes, there is a whole bunch of vinyl!
I am looking forward to some of the lesser known groups like Thee Oh Sees new album. It might be pushed back though...
My experience with rsd has been a good one personally, I got most of the stuff I had wanted the last few years. I will tell you that almost ALL of the items will be on Amazon a month or two after RSD, so for the most part you dont need to freak out. Dmb box set maybe not. But Soundgarden, cake box set, etc you'll find.
Edit- im not trying to stir up shit, just saying that last year I waited in line for three hours, ran in and bought $200 worth of stuff, only to find out that EVERY release I bought but dmb was on Amazon later on. That included Phish, the white stripes, cypress hill, notorious big, the dead, can't remember what else.
I have no doubt that Nirvana and Soundgarden and the Dead will be available a month or two after. Of all the titles I think DMB will be the rarest.
I would suggest if you really want something to do your homework. Search to see if the label is releasing it a month or two after. Call the record company, they'll usually tell you. It may not be foil stamped/numbered though, so if that's an issue, then there's that.
The record store tent at Coachella usually sells all the RSD releases on the day before RSD so we always rush to get to the festie early to do our shopiing.......this year, I don't think its really worth rushing-in early since all I really want are the R.E.M. releases.
The DMB Box set is out of 2000 this time, so it should be much more attainable

There's only 900 Cake sets being pressed. Those are going to go for a pretty penny.
And like @jervin007 said, there's 2000 DMB being pressed this year, as opposed to 500 for Vol. 1 and 1000 each for Vol. 2 and 3. Those will be MUCH more attainable than past RSD releases...
Whatever your record store only gets one copy of is the hot item. Must have, whether you listen to or even like the band. Must buy. You can then proceed to the Lost Dog forums and demand arms and legs from people who actually wanted the album and had to wait for the flip
Tame Impala and REM are probably the only must-haves for me. I would love to get the Soundgarden, Cake and LCD Soundsystem releases, but moola is what it is.
10/31/93 Berkeley (Baba!) • 10/1/94 Bridge School • 9/16/96 Seattle (In My Tree!) • 10/19/96 & 10/20/96 B. School (Alt Corduroy & Alt Porch!) • 10/25/03 B. School • 6/1/03 Mtnview (Crazy Mary! You Are!) • 11/29/13 Portland (All Those Yesterdays! Even Flow!) • 10/25/14 Bridge School (Rain! Fuckin Up! TOTD!) • 5/13/22 Oakland (had to leave early, but W.M.A.! Immortality!) • 5/13/24 Sacramento (Light Years! Picture in a Frame!) • 5/25/24 Bottle Rock (Last Kiss! Maybe It’s Time w/Bradley Cooper!)
I can't remember what site I read it on, but it was just announced the other day. The Coldplay 7" is a no go as well. I think REM was pushed back to October.
Tempers are wearing thin. Let's hope some robot doesn't kill everybody.

Bummer. Well the only thing I've found anywhere online is that Neil Young's is delayed and Coldplay also. If you find a link, post it- so I don't wait in line 3 hours for nada!!!

My shop also heard the rumors, but they are apparently false, as they alreay have their copies!!
(Mike Mills is doing in appearance in store, so I think it would be of serious bummer if they didn't have the sets)

I'm hoping for Mastodon, Atmosphere, Clutch/Lionize, Oliver Hart, B.I.G., Slipknot, Joy Division, Fishbone, Life Without Buildings, ...oh, and Katy Perry, of course.

LCD is really cool to me since I was at that final show, but let's face it, I'm going to listen to that 4 hour show on vinyl once (already heard it 4 or 5 times mp3 quality). Not worth the money to me.
Seems like there are more high-priced box sets in this year's RSD releases. Usually I just see 7"s or 12"s. Would love to get my hands on R.E.M. and Soundgarden, but the Pono is being funded tomorrow and that zaps my music cash!
I also would like that Ghostbusters 12"!
"There's a $10,000 bill in it for you."
"Oh yeah? Which president's on it?"
"Uh, all of them. They're having a party. Jimmy Carter's passed out on the couch."
