Verducci and Reynolds with Buck for the World Series. Fucking.Terrible. I really hope this isn't their weekly team.

worse than mccarver? I don't like buck or verducci but I'm not sure they can be worse than "when I played" Tim.

Verducci has the personality of a fish. he will add nothing. Reynolds might be ok as long as he isn't sexually harassing anyone.

This new tracking system mlb is putting in place sounds pretty awesome. You'll be able to track basically everything that happens on the field. And it seems like we'll finally be able to put solid numbers on defense. Pretty cool stuff

Nerd alert - I read that it's going to produce something like 4 terabytes of data for each game. That's a whole lot - probably gonna cost a shit load in maintaining all that.

But, yes, this does sound pretty awesome.

Not surprisingly, Medlen might have ligament damage. Gotta feel for him.

$30 million a year for a pitcher is absurd. the risk-reward is way too high on the risk side. every pitcher gets hurt eventually. it's bad business no matter how much money your franchise might have in my opinion.

No injury history, best pitcher in baseball BY FAR and all you are on the hook for is his EXACT prime. Nothing more.
approximately $1 million dollars per start and $10,000 per PITCH if he makes every start for those 1st 5 years. that's a big investment for a guy who is only plays once out of every 5th day. can you commit almost 10% of your salaries to a guy who only plays once every 5th day no matter how good he is? I know he is an absolute stud but I think it's way too big of an investment.
Kershaw missing at least his 1st start. those numbers per start are now going up.

these deals are getting out of control. why the fuck would you give Cabrera at 30 (at least) years old 10 years even when he has 2 more left. why would you possibly sign him with 2 years left on the current deal? makes no sense at his age or his body style to sign him this early and give him another 10 years. makes zero sense to do it at this time.

Same reason the Phillies gave Howard a massive contract 2 years early. There is no justification.
