I will never forget that moment, seeing them in front of me after all these years of listening to them. Unfortunately they did not play Black. Don't get me wrong, it was an epic set list and a great night but as I was walking out of that concert I promised myself and Zandy that we would see that song live.

Sadly on January 19th 2012 Zandy died in water skiing accident. It was a freak accident and obviously I was devastated. I had never lost a friend before and it cut me up in a big way. Zandy was someone that everyone wanted to know and be friends with and he wanted to know and be friends with anyone around him. He was a truly great friend.

Pearl Jam was played at various stages throughout the funeral and his love for the band was mentioned at numerous stages throughout the service. Needless to say it has made listening to Pearl Jam even more special than it previously was.

I am flying up to Auckland on January 17 to watch Pearl Jam headline the Big Day Out festival. It is going to be a special time especially considering it will be so close to the 2nd anniversary of Zandys death. My hope is that they play Black. I know that Eddie often writes the set list just before the gig so I know that the set list won't be set in stone yet and I am curious if there is any possible way to get this request through to the band and/or someone with connections or ties to the band. I know this is a huge ask and I may be wasting my time but I won't know if I don't try. Thanks for reading. Cheers
