  • The studio version is chains. I can clearly hear a s at the end. That's how I interpret it at least. Live it's either or. I've heard both, or what's sounded like both. Ed also is notoriously known to change lyrics live. This could bring up the question of "What makes the correct lyrics? Is it what they recorded, or what he decides to sing at the time?" It's art, what you hear may not be what someone else hears. No need arguing or getting a bit upset if someone else interprets the lyrics differently.

The "fancy" lyric book that is being asked about is on this website.

Is this thread meant as a joke? It's very clearly "chains" in the studio version.

But in the studio version of Black it's Sun.

Its "changed' in the studio version. What you think is an 's' sound is actually the way end pronunciates the 'g' in "changed"

What's this crap about being a new fan or asking a question?

Saw them back in 92 and I'm not asking any questions.

I supposed your fancy lyric book also says I know you'll be a sun in someone else's sky for the song Black.

Star is soooo much better than Sun and Everything has Changed is better than Chains.

What does your fancy book say about Yellow Ledbetter?

You seem to be taking things way too personally. It's just not healthy man.

Thanks for telling me what I'm hearing. I believe using your logic I could easily say It's "chains" in the studio version. What you think is a "d" is the way Ed pronunciats the "n" in chains. See how that works? It's all subjective and for the sake of argument both are correct. There is no clear cut evidence of either word. I say chains, you say changed.

I also looked up the lyrics in the "Official" lyric book to Even Flow and I don't see this lyric:

    Never gonna vote Republican.

I must heard him sing this line 50 times by now. I think it's time for a new "Official" lyric book

Perhap Ed just likes to keep us guessing with his lyrics, perhaps he gets a laugh out of seeing the crowd get it wrong ;))

Perhaps seriously is a better word. In this case both words suffice, yes.

I didn't mean to step on your interpretation. Even apologized for being that guy (you know, the kind to have the audacity to check the band's lyrics on their own website) in my original response.

    Wha wha what....

I have two goals in this life:

    1. To get the lyrics corrected for Corduroy
    2. To put an end to the sheep collectors.

    Mission 1 has been implemented.

    One step at a time.

But since you asked, my 3rd goal is for PJ to open with Yellow Ledbetter for one show and one show only. Might I suggest Milton Keynes or Leeds since I plan to be at both.

Not sure there is any argument at all in this. What he sings changes all the time guys. But I def don't think they'd print lyrics on their own website if they were wrong.
    This thread is a joke.

A lot of the lyrics on this site are wrong. Do you think that Ed opened up his song books for the 10C to jot down all of his stuff?
