His daughters are just the right age for that kind of thing. Nice dad. :)

this is the perfect way to introduce my little very-One-Direction-dedicated-niece to PJ! ....from one kind of craziness, to a new kind...;)

Nothing wrong with One Direction, they're a perfectly harmless, fun pop band. 10 year old girls are allowed to like music as well we can't all be Pink Floyd fans. My twins listen to Pearl Jam and they've been to see bands like The Killers yet they love One Direction. It annoys me when supposedly respected musicians slag artists like them off. Slash recently said they were "pointless and their music means nothing", this coming from the guy who wouldn't be half as iconic as he is if it wasn't for hair and a top hat and who put the guy from Maroon 5 on his album.
All my favourite singers have stolen all of my best lines.

Music is music. If my kids take an interest in music whether it be PJ, Led Zep, or Beiber I will support that interest and let their tastes take them where they want. I think I used to listen to Poison pretty religiously until my neighbour, who was much older, gave me a tape of Nirvana Bleach.

I went through a 60's phase; The Who, Led Zep, the Doors, Beatles etc... Some punk like the Dead Kennedy's, Husker Du etc..

I just hope my kids take an interest when they're older, and if they start with a band like One Direction, hopefully they branch out a bit from that.

  • Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder tells Rolling Stone he’s not exactly the biggest fan of today’s pop music and what it provides the listener.

“These pop songs almost feel like tabloid journalism,” said Vedder, cutting right to the point. “It’s crap that people seem to like and I don’t know if it has meaning. I don’t know if one of the pops songs of the summer has any fiber in it. People are consuming it, and is it healthy? I don’t know.”

Vedder admits he may be missing the point, adding, “Maybe it’s some kind of way of taking themselves away from their problems. Maybe there’s some healthy property of some restorative property that I’m not receiving. It seems like it has a really high fructose content.”

I've been disappointed with their last 2 albums (their first few were great), but they do put on a pretty damn good live show. I've seen them 4 times. :) I mean, they are no match for Pearl Jam or anything on stage, but still good.

You're right, they are not on PJ's level, but it looks like I like them a little bit more than you..hahaa They were my first concert and they were fantastic!
