Good ole Christmas dinner................

Outside the window
Snow is falling
The pine trees are holding just enough
To have the lights glow through the white
The snowman looks like
He's packed on some unwanted pounds
The drunk at the table
Tells the family
"I miss and love you guys"
For the umpteenth time
The bird has not been carved
It's cooked aroma fills the house
Should I help in the kitchen
So I don't have to listen to the shallow drunk
Mom never lets her brother get to her
Strong lady she is
Dad on the other hand
His afternoon, predinner nap
Has his escape written all over it
The rest of us are stuck
His marriage that busted up
His previous one to that too
His children he never sees
Yet, loves dearly
The dead end jobs
Which he changes almost yearly
The world that is the problem
THE WORLD????
The trimmings are on the table
The bird awaits its introduction
Snow is falling outside the window
Making for a picture postcard Christmas
It just wouldn't feel the same
