Is this North Korea?

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=227173

I don't think the band would approve. And if I get in trouble for this, keep in mind, it seems you can spew racist bulllshit on AMT as long as you like Sirens

Edit: said member was not banned, so I retract the North Korea comment but stand by not being able to criticize a song

Was a little much and I was surprised to see the thread locked, but to be fair, Kat said in the last post that her issue was with people bashing those who like the song, not with people hating the song itself. She was running with the insults towards other members rule.

Yep. The fan boy and blind loyalty comments were the cake-takers I think.

That is about the least offensive thing ever written on this board, literally.
  • I agree the poster should not have bashed other fans, but locking the thread was unreasonable and Kat did bring up in response that there would be no song-bashing allowed. She did NOT just focus on the name-calling, but specifically brought up that posters shouldn't bash songs. What the hell is that about? Total bullshit.

I shell out a lot of money and love for this band (just flew to 3 different cities on this last tour, plus tickets and merch purchases), but I don't think that they're infallible, and some songs do indeed suck. It should be okay to discuss that on this forum. Sirens happens to have finally grown on my a bit, but it isn't in my top 20, and my husband still hates it with a passion. At least it seems that most everyone agrees that Ole is a travesty (even the band seems to think so...judging by the fact that they don't really play it.) Don't get me started on that gooey-pop ick that is The Fixer...thank god I made it through 3 shows without hearing it this last tour. But a few turds over 23 years are to be expected, and should be open for discussion in the forums.

But seriously - I think a little bit more effort should be put into monitoring ya know...ACTUAL hate mongering like in AMT instead of my ball busting that is being taken far too seriously.

There's a difference between saying "This song is awful. I really can't stand it" and saying something like "You stink if you like this song."

I think the first one is ok... I hope it is. The second one should not be ok.

I agree. It's pretty low to insult people for their taste in music.

Even if they like Creed and/or Nickelback?

Even then. They can't help it if they have terrible taste in music - they were just born with no talent for music appreciation. We should really pity them, not insult them.

I might have hated Olympic Platinum, but I've had the misfortune to know some Olympic athletes, and that song is just too apt to hate.

I don't think anyone is expected to love every single PJ song but sometimes people seem to forget that this site is a FAN site for the band. It's the band's home online.

Imagine going into someone's house and saying "God, you have terrible taste in furniture, don't you?! That's gotta be the ugliest couch I've ever seen!" or "Gee, your kids are just about the most stupid kids I've ever met." :wtf:

Do you really think that would be appropriate? Even if those thoughts went through your mind!

People wouldn't say this type of thing out loud in someone's home. Think of the songs as their children. The band wouldn't want to hear you call their kid a bone head idiot. Does that make sense?!
