Is there any reason why some shows get released and some dont? Could there have been an issue with recording?
On AV I think there's 2 angles
1) the guests and their contractual obligations. Theres usually timeframes in allowing to use performances by others. For example, The Who can't even release their own recent performances of Quadrophenia bc they have an agreement with whoever released the 1990s version that they wouldn't release another version for like 20 years. So, while I expect them to release something from this last tour, it will be a few years until that agreement expires. Slightly different here, as you're dealing with multiple acts and multiple record companies, but hopefully the analogy makes sense
2) something special is being produced a la a Blu ray/DVD or bootleg snippets of some of the side stages stuff (both of which bring item 1 into more focus) which takes time to do right.
I think it's more 1 in this case and 2 is just me hoping/rationalizing.
As for Wrigley, based on what I've heard it could be the performance they are not happy with (though the Cubs may have some say a la item 1 above). But, Mexico 2 years ago wasn't released bc the recording got messed up (though that they announced, so I assume that's not the case in these other instances).
So, its a variety of things. But there's hope and a need with this one, so let's keep bumping!
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.
Any entertainment lawyer worth their salt would have worked out film and recording rights before each band signed up to play.
It's not like any of the guests (except Cornell) were premiere acts anyway . The exposure will likely help them (as always with a PJ association ).
I think it's more intentional delay as Jeff hinted at Pj20 overload and a revisit at PJ25?
As far as Wrigely , I was not blessed to be there but the performances (including maybe the best "release" if all time) appear stellar!
Boggles my mind how Wrigley does not qualify for the "instant classic" designation.
Just my two cents..
I might be all wrong !
I tend to agree about it not being a contractual issue, but that's purely speculation. Cannot understand Wrigley either...sound quality was great and songs were tight IMHO.

I'm sure a lawyer could get stuff ironed out pretty easy, but only if PJ and their management wanted to deal with the headache that dealing with other record labels could cause. I don't think it would be quite so simple when dealing with rock star egos.
The Strokes and QOTSA have practically as much name recognition as PJ at this point and quite a bit more than Chris Cornell, TOTD or Soundgarden.

actually the official would suffer majorly to the audience version on this one, for the simple fact the audience singing is so on time it adds an epic-ness to it that would be lost, and you still hear the band extremely clear on the audience version, even though it is audience they are amongst the best boots I have heard, thanks in large part to the audience
Girlfriend says they will never be released ever. I think she said something to the fact that she wanted to be buried with them.

It would be a traveshamockery not to release these PJ20 boots. What's the rationale for it not being released like the other boots, especially since these shows were a celebration of 20 years together?
