    This.

Everyone is me me me me me me. You think this band didn't give enough back to its fans. Did anyone at any point think about what the BAND wants? To them, I'm sure they don't give a crap who's up front. Fans, especially fan club fans, are interchangeable. So your pleas are in vain. And I'm sure a bit petty.

I would speculate that if we asked the BAND, they wanted GA back for the energy. Thats it. And the amount of energy in the GA pit has made a larger impact, I would dare say. Eddie also seems to like to give people with bad seats a chance for good seats (countless evidence during this tour and Eddie's tours where he's upgraded people).

So, does the BAND want the same fan club fans from ten club birth to 1994 in the front all the time? Sorry, if you actually thought about it, I would say no. So sorry you feel entitled to awesome seats every show you go to because you happened to send $5 to the fan club in 1992. I don't think that makes you any more privileged then any of the rest of us who love this band just as much, or even those who may NOT but MAY if they have an experience close to the stage.

thank you for quoting me  but i disagree with everything you've said here.

  • Now that the tour is over and I have read many things about GA and experienced it myself ~ let's call it the experiment of 2013 and go back to rows of seats.

My own experience and have read the same situations over and over.. you get there early, you line up.. there is BS about a "list" ~ people get pissed that you have to have some number on your hand.. so you go along with it because hell you want to get in at number 113 and not 183! You are told we will all line up in one single line and enter this way and then when they call for the doors to be open and there is actually going to be three lines and all hell breaks loose and your number on your hand did not mean crap.. the only people whose numbers seemed to matter were like the first 30 or so.

So you get in the doors and it is a mad scramble to the floor and then you stand for an hour and half ~ waiting for the opening act.. you are already packed in like sardines in a little tin can.. and you know it will only get worst. Standing for 1.5 hours with no entertainment you can start to feel your back or feet saying "yeah ~ right this is going to happen for three more hours.."

Finally the music begans and you realize hey Mudhoney is ok.. and then some asshole decides to push his way into the crowd.. elblowing your neighbor in the face.. hitting the person you came with in the back of the head.. and then it begins.. you are dealing with assholes for the rest of the night trying to push their way up.. they are usually heavily intoxicated and usually some of the biggest jerks you have ever encountered. It makes one wonder what we both see in this band that we both apparently like because these guys are prime jackasses.. they consistantly try getting up closer.. one yells "this is not a reserved concert, this is GA motherfuckers ~ DEAL with it"! This goes on until he decides he needs another beer.. but we all now he will be back during Even Flow!

So, you are doing your best to try enjoy this band you love.. but it is getting hotter and hotter and the oxygen level is less and less and you find you are having kind of a hard time breathing in the packed sardine can because you are packed in so tight to the stage.. You are skin to skin on all for sides of you.. personal space goes out the window.. is this really fun? is this really what adults do?

PLEASE PEARL JAM GIVE US BACK OUR ROWED SEATS! It worked well for years and years.. you could spend the morning in line and meet other fans while you waited for your tickets, you could then go experience some of the town you were in or at least get some dinner.. there was none of this other crap that I experienced at this last show.

I know I am one person, with one opinion but I know I have read other peoples posts that have been similar to mine.. let our voices be heard!

    NO TO GA!!!!!

I think you've hit upon it.

The other thing that I've seen are the people who wait around all day, then line up at a side door and not the "official entry" where the line is. As soon as these side doors enter, they mad dash down to the GA pit and then are among the people with numbers who have been waiting around for several hours.

  • The other thing I thought about with GA was that it seemed like there was a lot of wasted/unused space between GA and the reserved floor, which were supposedly ten club members too. It's gotta be weird standing in that front row of reserved seats, and seeing feet and feet of bare floor with nobody standing on it ahead of you, leading up to back of GA pit. Seems like they could have tightened up the space a little more.

Maybe not. In the pit, people generally push as close as possible to the front. Plus, you have various fire codes...there may be laws stating "so much area per person."

Again... these G.A. gigs were my only shot at getting to the front... so I took my shots.
I don't HAVE to be up front... but, if given the opportunity... I'll have a go at it because in the normal seniority situation, I don't get a shot.

Are you forgetting the lottery for rows 1-2?
That is almost meaningless when compared to GA. A very small number of people get it, and most people never win that lottery at all.

The only way to make it fair in the lottery would be that once you win, say twice, then you can't win again...or maybe only one win per every five shows...but then, it wouldn't be a lotto, would it?

  • GA favors the youthful, fit, able bodied, and desperate to get near the band. If that's what it takes for the band to have a good front audience, so be it. But I'm not fit, I'm short and I've broken both legs which are now healed but very sore and I need a seat. But I'm not complaining.

What I'd like to see change is the whining about the GA. Just suck it up, for Bob's sake! It's a friggin' concert! I swear, the people complaining have never been to a GA show before. That's how it is.

I won ZERO shows for this tour from the so-called new lottery for buying tickets. THAT's what I'd like to see change. After buying shit seats on TM, and then talking to so many 10c members winning 10c seats for multiple shows? And they have the nerve to whine they didn't win tix to all of the shows they wanted? Yeah. Now that's a crock of shite, right there!!!

That is a travesty and I feel for you. Putting the GA thing aside for a moment, I feel this lottery stinks and your experience is the reason it stinks. I feel strongly that instead of a lottery, 10c should go back to 2000 and guarantee 1 show per tour. And then for other shows, the so-called lottery would be your luck with T/M. Maybe a modification of what I just said could be a guarantee for 1 pair of seats (non-GA) per tour, and then a lottery for multiple shows with regard to GA tiskets. If we went back to 1 show per tour, even the worst seats would be great. All huddled around the front and if there is a GA pit, the reserved seats would be close on the sides. The negative of 1 show per tour would be that maybe the GA pit would be smaller. But maybe not. I bet if it was 1 show per tour, LA's GA pit would be as full. I think a major aspect of 10c being a "Club" would be some sort of preferential seating. For you to be smoked on the lottery and passed up for the tour when PJ came to your market, to me, is horrible. I'd rather keep the GA vs. Reserved but let the "members" get 1 show and let the "lottery" be the F5 key at Ticketmaster.

I can't agree more with you. All of it.

It's the lottery way of purchasing 10c tickets that needs to be re-evaluated. 10C, are you listening??

I couldn't agree more. Went to 2 seated and 1 GA show and strongly prefer reserved seating. Hands down a better way to handle ticket sales and to enjoy the shows. Thanks.

But not everyone feels that way. Many would say the exact opposite. Which is why having a GA pit makes so much sense. The people who prefer having a seat can have a seat. The people who prefer the pit can be in the pit. If it's all reserved seating, then only the seat people get their preference. With a pit, EVERYONE gets their preference.

Yeah, no shit. I was just saying what I think personally. The thing is, GA pit and the lottery have something in common. They are both the most fair system overall.

That is ALWAYS the case no matter what. There are more fans than tickets. No matter what system you use, that will be true.
