Yeah, cause I need to buy 2 Copies, one for me, and one for the person I took to the show, Its my Tradition.
Nice friend...I gotta start going to shows with you! Hey 10c, please help nutbarz continue his tradition!0 -
I would have never dreamed in a million years that this would not happen ..
But the band seems intent on living in the present tense.
I read Jeff suggested they might revisit this for release on PJ25
Which would make it 2016.
Now I know how the folks who went to the gorge 2005 show feel!
How long did they wait?"This here's a REQUEST!"

It hasn't been released because Jeff Ament has been too busy on tour to design the box set!
I heard it's going to be home plate shaped packaging. It's also going to include real Wrigley ivy seeds (warning: ivy gives up growing in late August), a frozen package of all beef franks, and a poncho.0 -
C'mon guys, stock a sweet Christmas gift in the shop...PLEASE!!!0

Don't get your hopes up. Santa is not coming through this year.....for the 3rd Christmas in a row.
WHY, Santa? I've been such a good boy, and I only have one wish besides world peace.....PJ20 Boots!!There's no need to say goodbye0 -

I think the Wrigley ivy's too depressed by late August to keep going, though it arguably see the writing on its own wall in June

Is there any reason why some shows get released and some dont? Could there have been an issue with recording?NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

On AV I think there's 2 angles
1) the guests and their contractual obligations. Theres usually timeframes in allowing to use performances by others. For example, The Who can't even release their own recent performances of Quadrophenia bc they have an agreement with whoever released the 1990s version that they wouldn't release another version for like 20 years. So, while I expect them to release something from this last tour, it will be a few years until that agreement expires. Slightly different here, as you're dealing with multiple acts and multiple record companies, but hopefully the analogy makes sense
2) something special is being produced a la a Blu ray/DVD or bootleg snippets of some of the side stages stuff (both of which bring item 1 into more focus) which takes time to do right.
I think it's more 1 in this case and 2 is just me hoping/rationalizing.
As for Wrigley, based on what I've heard it could be the performance they are not happy with (though the Cubs may have some say a la item 1 above). But, Mexico 2 years ago wasn't released bc the recording got messed up (though that they announced, so I assume that's not the case in these other instances).
So, its a variety of things. But there's hope and a need
with this one, so let's keep bumping!
Sorry. The world doesn't work the way you tell it to.0 -

I think the "contractual issue" is a non factor.
Any entertainment lawyer worth their salt would have worked out film and recording rights before each band signed up to play.
It's not like any of the guests (except Cornell) were premiere acts anyway . The exposure will likely help them (as always with a PJ association ).
I think it's more intentional delay as Jeff hinted at Pj20 overload and a revisit at PJ25?
As far as Wrigely , I was not blessed to be there but the performances (including maybe the best "release" if all time) appear stellar!
Boggles my mind how Wrigley does not qualify for the "instant classic" designation.
Just my two cents..
I might be all wrong !"This here's a REQUEST!"

I tend to agree about it not being a contractual issue, but that's purely speculation. Cannot understand Wrigley either...sound quality was great and songs were tight IMHO.locked wrote:I think the "contractual issue" is a non factor.

I'm sure a lawyer could get stuff ironed out pretty easy, but only if PJ and their management wanted to deal with the headache that dealing with other record labels could cause. I don't think it would be quite so simple when dealing with rock star egos.
The Strokes and QOTSA have practically as much name recognition as PJ at this point and quite a bit more than Chris Cornell, TOTD or Soundgarden.0 -
