feel for soundgarden fans of course, but the selfish side of me is delighted.

I agree. I'd be surprised if the US get more dates, but who knows.

I could see them easily doing a 3 week tour through the US next year in the Midwest/South. A lot of cities they missed, Denver, Chicago, Minneapolis, Nashville, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit just to name a few. I'd be kind of surprised if there were no US dates next year.

I hope you are right. It seems like forever since they played in TN.

Matt Walker would be a fine fill-in.

Same, sucks for Soundgarden fans in South America and Europe, but I really hope that means a lot more PJ next year. Soundgarden has all of 2015 to tour

true, and it looks like they intend to, although whether Matt can be replaced remains to be seen.

They invested a lot of money in this new stage setup they are using. You don't do that if you don't plan to tour.

Matt...you made the right call! :D

I agree, he DID make the right call. All 5 of these guys in PJ really are brothers. It's enjoyable to watch them together as a team. A DREAM TEAM! 8-)

I can't imagine a Soundgarden show without Matt. I'd be hugely disappointed if I had tickets to one of those shows.

I mean yeah, this isn't awesome news, but honestly it's not a surprise. This issue had to come up at some point ever since SG got back together. It's the downside of having such an awesome drummer for two awesome bands ;)

Jimmy Chamberlain is actually a great suggestion. Though I'd still be disappointed, I could definitely see him as a solid replacement.

I think Europe is a given. I really think this means more US dates. He specifically says he's committed to Lightning Bolt. If he just said more time with family I think it would be different. I doubt he would step away from Soundgarden for two months of PJ in Australia and Europe (most likely 6 months apart).

Plus I agree with the stage theory. They need an ROI on that I'm sure.

Maybe they figured out a way to finally do a SG/PJ co headlining tour!!!!! Matt just plays in one band. :)

For me, it's good and bad.

Good: He will dedicate his time to Pearl Jam. And family is a very important thing.

Bad: SG will play in my country for the first time. I would love to see them with Matt.

This was bound to happen eventually, I'm just glad he chose PJ over Soundgarden, although I'm guessing it literally came down to SG adding more dates and Matt already being committed to PJ. :|

Not happy about this at all. I've never seen Soundgarden and was hoping this year I'd be able to, but there's no way I'm going to one of their shows without Matt. And it's not like I'm getting anything out of him being in PJ exclusively since all the dates are rumored in Europe. This sucks. :( :( :(

This is wonderful to hear! Hopefully some more shows in the States and some shows in Europe!!! Would love to see them some more, especially in the upcoming year. June '14 would be great as I'm a student and will be done with work and would be able to catch more shows!
I've been fortunate enough to see Pearl Jam live.

Guess this just means he needed the extra time so PJ could do a '93 style tour in 2014!! :shifty:

And while together all that time, might as well crank another album out, ala Vitalogy during the Vs tour :D

Pretty sure you know what I meant, I was at Wrigley too. But I'm going to go WAY out on a limb and think they could probably sell out two more shows at the United Center should they play some US shows in the Midwest next year touring for Lightning Bolt.
