not edmonton ... i work with felloww and he was disappointed we he heard miller list edmonton as a team he will not go to, i guess he has listed 8 teams. Pittsburgh?

I don't see Pitts as a team interested. maybe the islanders?

    1. I highly doubt that information would get out there
    2. It is reasonable to assume Edmonton is on there.
    3. It may be reasonable to assume Miller may want to GTFO no matter where at this point and with UFA status.

i thought i read that a trade to edmonton would at least get him closer to his wife in LA? ...

Until Pens dump Fleury, they aren't going to trade for Miller, don't have the cap room to make the move without jettisoning Fleury, and probably don't have what Buff would want in return if they are looking for a trade similar to the Vanek deal. Pens have a glut of D prospects but practically no real F prospects, so they aren't going to give up a Beau Bennett or similar NHL ready prospect to get Miller.

with Arnott annoucing his retirement today, and being reminded he is the 7th overall pick in 1993, I thought we could rank the top 10 draft picks from the 1993 first round.

1 Alexandre Daigle Centre Canada Ottawa Senators Victoriaville Tigres (QMJHL)
2 Chris Pronger Defence Canada Hartford Whalers Peterborough Petes (OHL)
3 Chris Gratton Centre Canada Tampa Bay Lightning Kingston Frontenacs (OHL)
4 Paul Kariya Left Wing Canada Mighty Ducks of Anaheim University of Maine (Hockey East)
5 Rob Niedermayer Centre Canada Florida Panthers Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL)
6 Viktor Kozlov Left Wing Russia San Jose Sharks HC Dynamo Moscow (Russia)
7 Jason Arnott Centre Canada Edmonton Oilers Oshawa Generals (OHL)
8 Niklas Sundström Left Wing Sweden New York Rangers MODO (Sweden)
9 Todd Harvey Centre Canada Dallas Stars Detroit Jr. Red Wings (OHL)
10 Jocelyn Thibault Goaltender Canada Quebec Nordiques Sherbrooke Faucons (QMJHL)
11 Brendan Witt Defence Canada Washington Capitals Seattle Thunderbirds (WHL)
12 Kenny Jonsson Defence Sweden Toronto Maple Leafs Rögle BK (Sweden)
13 Denis Pederson Centre Canada New Jersey Devils Prince Albert Raiders (WHL)
14 Adam Deadmarsh Centre Canada/ United States Quebec Nordiques Portland Winter Hawks (WHL)
15 Mats Lindgren Centre Sweden Winnipeg Jets Skelleftea AIK (Sweden)
16 Nick Stajduhar Defence Canada Edmonton Oilers London Knights (OHL)
17 Jason Allison Centre Canada Washington Capitals London Knights (OHL)
18 Jesper Mattsson Centre Sweden Calgary Flames Malmö Redhawks (Sweden)
19 Landon Wilson Right Wing United States Toronto Maple Leafs Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL)
20 Mike Wilson Defence Canada Vancouver Canucks Sudbury Wolves (OHL)
21 Saku Koivu Centre Finland Montreal Canadiens TPS Turku (Finland)
22 Anders Eriksson Defence Sweden Detroit Red Wings MODO (Sweden)
23 Todd Bertuzzi Centre Canada New York Islanders Guelph Storm (OHL)
24 Eric Lecompte Left Wing Canada Chicago Blackhawks Hull Olympiques (QMJHL)
25 Kevyn Adams Centre United States Boston Bruins Miami University (CCHA)
26 Stefan Bergkvist Defence Sweden Pittsburgh Penguins Leksands IF (Sweden)

    I would go:

    1. Pronger
    2. Koivu
    3. Bertuzzi
    4. Kariya
    5. Witt
    6. Arnott
    7. Allison
    8. Gratton
    9. Deadmarsh
    10. Neidermeyer

    anyone else?

Steven Stamkos broke his right tibia today against Boston.
What a huge loss for Tampa Bay not to mention Team Canada if he can't make it back in time.

definitely won't make it back ... they are saying 4-6 months recovery ...

on a similar note - bettman prefers World Cup vs. Olympic hockey ... i would have to agree except for the fact that right now, there are only about 5-6 countries that could host something like that ... and seeing as it would be played likely in the off-season - it doesn't really work logistically for fan participation ...

Didn't know they were going to perform surgery.
    He's done
Too bad.Even though Canada is deep at center/right wing this is still a major loss.

Yeah he's done. Surgery is generally the quicker way to recovery, at least according to the doctor who dealt with me when I broke my tibia. I was in a cast for 13 weeks, not to mention the rehab afterwards.

Granted, Stamkos is prooooooobably in a little better shape than I am, but forget the Olympics.

LaFontaine seems like he means business.

He also has a "short list" for GM, which I am sure includes Jason Botterill and Rick Dudley. Then they will hire their head coach (Nolan is interim),
