It looks like Charlottesville was def the "Charlotte" show to be at. Charlotte did get Getaway though so as always a special show.

I hear ya.. but obviously different for the folks that were in attendance at either.. some will want to forget 'ville for some reason and others will call Charlotte the greatest night of their life.. Life is great!Big Bank Hank wrote:Charlottesville was like State College a show we will be still be talking about 10 years from now, Charlotte not so muchNone are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe that they are free.

Charlottesville seems a little bigger word than Charlotte to me"...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

I got to both shows. Charlotte was fantastic, but Charlottesville was just out of this world, on another level. Seeing Getaway live for first ever live performance was special however.0

Booth were great. For me though, Charlottesville was epic.I wish I was an alien at home behind the sun.....

Charlotte left me disappointed. Band was drained, overall crowd was fair. The crowd in 103 was god awful and dead. Charlottesville on the other hand, absolutely perfect show.2008: Bonnaroo
2010: Bristow
2012: Atlanta
2013: Charlottesville, Charlotte
2014: Cincinnati
2016: Greenville, Hampton, Raleigh (cancelled), Columbia, Lexington

Thanks for the kind words man. I truly did appreciate that gig, I will never forget it. And as far as boots, I cannot listen to Pensacola 12 and not think about how much you love it

seems kind of weak compares to Charlottesville, that was back when the band was playing 28 song setlistTamaDrummer91 wrote:Big Bank Hank wrote:

Just from looking at the setlists Charlottesville is the winner. They played two of my white whale songs (Footsteps and Glorified G)
I see all these threads talking about how epic this show was and it makes me frustrated. This was the first full length show in the US they have ever played on my birthday (Europe show 1996 and partial Canada show 1991). I unfortunately couldn't make the 13 hour drive out there  Now, I have to buy the bootleg and seriously rock out to this thing, so i can feel better. Please release these boots!!!!
Congrats to the lucky ones who were able to attend."Mine is mine and yours won't take its place.."

Charlotte was my 1st show since the Honolulu 2006 & U2/PJ shows. I hate to sound like a snob or a whiner, but I was let down and even more after I saw the setlist. If they had played Wash, Leash, and Crazy Mary I probably would have felt satisfied. I probably would have drove up to VA if I had known this one was going to be a bit shorter and a more standard-ish setlist. Maybe they were tired from playing C'ville the night before, I dunno. I also read in other places that the crowd wasn't into it. Being right in front of the stage with all the other fans screaming, I know we were into it. Not sure about the rest of the stadium. Just one of those unfortunate things I guess. Hopefully I can see them sooner than having to wait 7 more years b/c I was out of the country.0

doesn't really matter....every show is different and a true pleasure to attend...been to 71 and I remember something so special about everyone....whether its the setlists, the people, the band themselves, the venue..etc...
soak up every bit of every show

I don't know, I'm kind of on the Charlotte bandwagon for this argument. I went to Baltimore, Charlottesville, and Charlotte for this tour. For some reason Charlotte was my favorite. My reasons are:
#1 - Getaway - So much anticipation for this song, and great to finally hear it live.
#2 - Bee Girl - Thought I'd never hear it live, and I'm one of those fans who keep a spreadsheet and know exactly which songs we need to hear, so this was unexpected and awesome. So cool to see the evolution of Jeff getting snubbed one night and back playing acoustic guitar on Bee Girl a few nights later.
#3 - Infallible - Not played at either of the previous shows and really a nice fit and a good song.
Also, I think if they had played one of the Wash, Leash, crazy mary, it would have put it on par with Charlottesville for length of show. I agree Charlottesville had better energy and my buddy was really into it and I do love the new Mother cover they are doing, but for some reason I can't get Charlotte out of my head.
They were all really good shows, and very fun for sure. Great leg of the tour to see them on for sure. There's no need to say goodbye0 -
Its unbelievable to me that you were disappointed because they didn't play wash or crazy Mary. Forget the fact that you were one of the very fee lucky fans that got to hear the live debut of getaway. Or Stone showing off his chest. Or hearing watchtower close the show. Or hearing bee girl live.blarrg wrote:Charlotte was my 1st show since the Honolulu 2006 & U2/PJ shows. Charlotte was my first show since Blossom Music Center near Cleveland OH in 1998. They closed with Alive and encore Yellow Ledbetter back then. It was cool they closed with Alive in Charlotte as well. We were up in the nosebleeds 203 row N. However, the sound was great and the energy was just as strong up there as it was down on the floor.
Thank you to all the members and crew for making a memorable night!!!!0
