So, I was thinking, if "they" are not going to do it for us... because they are too busy, or have no intentions to... let's do it ourselves...The "Social" Technology is out there, why not use it?
I am not a tech savvy person, by any means. But I kinda get the way live streaming works on Ustream. I have seen it in action with some protests/rallies in NYC and Chicago... Egypt and London etc. And the best part is... it is free trial for 30 days... with that said... how easy would it be to get you crazy people out there, to get some streams together for live shows? 10C Member Style?
I believe all we need is;
#1 Fans willing to "Tape One" for the team...
+
#2 Fans that have a decent quality (higher the better) MobilePhone/Cam with Wifi/Web Access...
+
#3 and Finally Fans create a Ustream Trial Account, this gives us the "Go Live" option...
(all three requirements listed above, must be filled by the person streaming the show)
= This will give us Live Feed and LIVE PEARL JAM
And I know how the world works, you don't get something for nothing... so we can even discuss perks for members that do this. I'm sure that there are those among us willing to help out with that, myself included.
Set-up/testing can happen throughout the day of the show... with link's being provided by the streamer... we could discuss this as well, what would be the best way to provide a stream link... a Setlist Thread is a Setlist thread.... so we can't merge with that type of thread...but here in the Given to Fly forum we could create a thread ("Day of the Show" eg.) for testing etc... and then the streamer could provide the Setlist Runner a link for the "OP"... sort of like my "Wrigley Setlist" thread had the links for "Earthcam" during the Show... then I removed them after the show...
All of this can be discussed further...
We would want to stay within the boundaries/limits of 10C policy obviously for starters, as well as being courteous to other fans around the "Streamer". Remember, I am suggesting a "Live Video Stream" of the event... not a bootleg of the event...

I dont think you will find someone willing to pay almost $100 for a ticket and then spend the show holding a camera for 3 hours.Speaking as a child of the 90's0

I can't imagine there would be wifi access for the masses in the venue, so someone would have to figure out an alternative wifi solution or use their data plan, which would be big bucks...I smile, but who am I kidding...0

It depends. The Wells Fargo Center in Philly has free wifi access in the entire arena. Now, its reliability is questionable, but it's there.Speaking as a child of the 90's0 -

How do you think you get those DVDs of the old shows? Nowadays a lot of people have access to smartphones. But back 10-15 years ago people (tapers) took pretty hefty recording devices to the shows and they hid them well. That's why you have all those shows from 90s.I have no patience for bad music and stupid people...

people do this at every phish show where the wifi signal is strong enough.....find a taper, he'll probably know the ins/outs of this.0

You did notice that those rules you cite say No Video Cameras, right... While a phone is a phone, I'm pretty sure someone from the band might be upset at this idea... But I'm not saying i wouldn't watch it....1996: Randall's Island I, Hartford

Now here's a great thought from cutz! I for one am not too worried either about seeing any type of video image.. I would actually prefer just the audio anyway... The "Streamer" could hold onto the source or hang it on something or whatever... I don't think there is a necessity for a video image.07-19-'13 Chicago (TY EarthCam) @ 10♣

With GoPro body mounts and so many other mobile options and a South American tour on the way I think this is worth revisiting.
I'm sure it been discussed before (too lazy for more than a quick search) but I wish they'd do a live feed for at least the 10C members. Give us an option to pay a nominal fee and live stream the show. Hell if they could make it happen there would believing parties across the world.
How awesome would that be?Post edited by frozenwithsalt on0 -
I have thought about taking my gopro to a show and attaching it a barrier (front row or balcony) and getting the whole thing on video. Would be awesome to get it live across the world from a fan instead of the venue2003: 7/14 NJ ... 2006: 6/1 NJ, 6/3 NJ ... 2007: 8/5 IL ... 2008: 6/24 NY, 6/25 NY, 8/7 EV NJ ... 2009: 10/27 PA, 10/28 PA, 10/30 PA, 10/31 PA

Yes it would. You wouldn't happen to be going to South America would you?
