Charlottesville crowd?

The crowd for this gig has seriously got me concerned, being a college town and it seems the tickets haven't sold as well. Can anyone comment generally on the crowds in CVille? Are they tame and bland?

Get a grip, dude. You're going to a concert worried about how the crowd is going to behave?
Hmmmm, to answer . . . Charlottesville is the coolest, hippest town in Virginia. The fan club members coming to this show know what's going down (are you sure you're from VA?). I imagine that UVA students who like Pearl Jam (or any college kids for that matter) are far from tame and bland.
I just don't understand your point of view. Chill.0 -
Ha, What Dreams must be the mayor of Charlottesville or something. I like the town, but I could see the crowd being a little more mellow/disinterested/sparse than most dates. Seemed like a strange stop to me: most college kids won't want to pony up money for a concert ticket, and it's during the week which will prevent a lot of people from DC from coming down. That being said, if you're in 10 club seating you should have a good atmosphere around you.0

No, not the mayor, but I am driving down from the DC area (15 miles from) during the work week. Funny thing. You just prompted me to check Ticketmaster -- the best available seats left at this point are in section 304, row Z, as in the last letter of the alphabet row, so somebody from somewhere is clearly ponying up the money. I bet that last row will sell out by the night of, and I predict that the non-10C seating areas will rock the house.
I still have an extra reserved ticket. I've deliberately saved it to sell to a poor, underprivileged UVA kid (hahahaha) waiting outside the arena holding a wad of cash. They probably have more dope than any of us combined, too. If you want to get stoned, hang out with the college kids. The rest of the state is dry.0 -
Good deal, man, have fun!0

I am driving from CT for this show. I heard this is a great town to see a show. Plus it's where DMB originated and we all know how much PJ fans love Dave. I think this could be the surprise show of the tour. Saw them in Champaign, IL in 03 and I still think it's the best PJ show I've seen. Champaign is middle of nowhere IL and is home to the University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign. They came out hard at that show and blew the roof off the dump. I think they'll want to prove to the college kids that they still got it!6-29-98 Chicago, 10-9-00 Chicago, 4-23-03 Champaign, 6-18-03 Chicago, 7-1-03 Bristow, 10-1-04 Reading, 10-11-04 DC, 9-30-05 Atlantic City, 5-30-06 DC, 6-17-08 VA Beach, 8-17-08 DC (Ed), 6-15-09 Baltimore (Ed), 5-13-10 Bristow, 10-29-13 Charlottesville, 4-18-16 Hampton0

What does that have to do with my concern over the crowd involvement?
I'm just concerned after all the great crowds in the northeast that the small town of CVille might not bring it. I sure hope they can.
And yes I'm from VA, about 4 hours away from CVille. My point of view is simply this is a place pj have never played; it's the smallest venue on the tour and it didn't sell out. A bad crowd really brings down a show. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.Post edited by TamaDrummer91 on2008: Bonnaroo

I do apologize for coming off like a worry wart, that was not my intention. Here's to a great show and memorable times! Considering pendulum has been the opener to every gig so far basically, I hope to hear either of the girl or sometimes to follow it.2008: Bonnaroo

I was at that show... I assume you're pointing out that sometimes, indeed, a college show can suck? That still goes down as one of the least awesome PJ shows I've ever seen. And I've seen about 50. It was not much fun.
Granted, PJ on a bad day is still better than most bands live on a good day. But this is PJ, and comparing that show to other PJ shows, it was not much fun.0 -
