This is Pearl Jam week on Jimmy Fallon, and Chris Cornell covered Footsteps. A great performance, in my opinion BTW.
For those like me, that don't live in the US or didnt see, here's the link:

Can't wait to watch it! On my DVR for when I get home. Should be a good week!
I've been fortunate enough to see Pearl Jam live.

I am hanging in the balance of a perfect finished plan

Chris Cornell and The Avett Brothers version of Footsteps was incredible. It's going to be hard for the other two bands to top that.

  • i'm not the biggest CC/SG fan, so i don't follow him often, but this performance really surprised me, in a good way. I know to a certain extent what he's capable of in his solo sets, but i've mostly just heard him in SG or Audioslave, and haven't liked the way his voice sounded in those bands in the last decade. But in this performance his voice sounded strong, clear, emotive, and simple in a way i've never heard from him. Took me back a long, long way to hearing Seasons for the first time, and being blown away.
Temple will always be his best work, and he should continue to be proud of it.
    cheers

Really cool. Was it just me or did Cornell's performance seem really effortless?
  • Loved it, now if he would only play Times Of Trouble live some time!!

For those outside the US (I'm in the UK) I have a firefox add-on called Hola (just search for it) and it will allow you to unblock pretty much anything :)

Totally, I suppose a song like this is in a really comfortable range for him so he can really go to town without having to strain for any higher notes.
  • Supposedly Chris quit smoking a few years back and I believe his voice recently reflects that. Hint hint Ed.....

Although, I did not notice Ed smoking at the Pittsburgh show and in one of the interviews he said that he's always trying to quit. Anyone else notice him smoking on this tour?

Interesting note about the World Series at the bottom of this article:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/music/video ... s-20131022

"Along with getting their own week at Late Night – an honor previously bestowed upon Bruce Springsteen and Justin Timberlake – you'll be able to catch Pearl Jam throughout the World Series: The band recently signed a deal with Fox Sports that places 48 of their songs, including all 12 from Lightning Bolt within the channel's Series' programming, which kicks off tomorrow."
I smile, but who am I kidding...
